Why won't my MTD PRO MP426CS Trimmer start?

  Your MTD Trimmer might not start for several reasons. Check if the On/Off control is in the STOP position; if so, turn it to ON. The fuel tank may be empty, requiring a refill with properly mixed fuel. You might not have pressed the primer bulb enough; press it fully and slowly 10 times. Old or improperly mixed fuel could be the issue; drain the tank and add fresh fuel. A fouled spark plug or plugged spark arrestor can also prevent starting; replace or clean them as needed.
