This document is an Installation and Operation Manual for the MTI Designer Collection Shower System, which includes Acrylic CXL™ and DoloMatte™ shower pans, as well as Teak Shower Trays. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, usage, and maintenance, along with warranty information.

Function Description:

The MTI Designer Collection Shower System provides a complete solution for residential and commercial showering needs. It features shower pans designed for durability and aesthetic appeal, available in Acrylic CXL™ and DoloMatte™ materials. Optional components include the Radiance® heating system for warming the shower base and Teak Shower Trays for added comfort and style. The system is designed for indoor installation in climate-controlled environments.

Important Technical Specifications:

Shower Pans:
- Constructed to install on a flat, level sub-floor.
- All printed specifications have ±1/2" tolerance and are subject to change.
- Bedding compound (Quickrete Sand Mix #1103 or equivalent) is required to fill the void between the shower pan and floor, unless an optional factory-installed pre-leveled foam base is used.
- DoloMatte™ shower pans are warranted against defects in material and workmanship for ten years (residential) or two years (commercial) from the date of purchase.
- Integral Tile Flange (molded) for single and dual threshold pans, secured with screws (not nails) to wall studs.
- Factory-installed Rigid ABS Tile Flange for low-profile multithreshold pans, chemically bonded to 1, 2, or 3 sides, secured with screws (not nails) to wall studs.
- 100% silicone is recommended where the drain makes contact with the DoloMatte™ surface and along the top of integral/ABS flanges.
Radiance® Heating System (Optional):
- Dedicated on/off touch pad and a transformer box.
- 3' power cord and a single lead with splitter to connect 2 heating grid wires per system.
- Requires a maximum 15 amp dedicated circuit.
- Must be connected to a supply protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
- System components for U.S. & Canada are limited to 110V.
- Electrical specifications: 110 Volt, GFCI 1-15 amp, 5 amps.
- Heats to optimal temperature within 20-60 minutes, depending on ambient temperature.
- System turns off in case of power surge or failure.
- Transformer box and GFCI must be accessible for service.
Teak Shower Trays (Optional):
- Made from 100% US-certified legal, sustainable teak lumber.
- 1 3/8" wide teak slats.
- Countersunk marine-grade stainless steel screws.
- Gripping rubber pads on the underside.
- Warranted against defects in material and workmanship for two years from date of purchase.
- Teak Seats (accessories) are warranted for parts only against defects in material and workmanship for one year from date of purchase.

Usage Features:

General Shower System: Designed for ease of cleaning and an elegant look.
Radiance® Operation:
- 1st Press: System on, LED light on.
- 2nd Press: System off, LED light off.
- Provides a warming feature for the shower base.
Teak Shower Tray:
- Can be kept natural, stained, or periodically treated with oil.
- Naturally assumes a silver-gray patina over time if left untreated.
- Can be stained with water-based stains to prolong its golden color or darken it.
- Teak oil can be applied to condition and darken the wood.
- May require a small notch for frameless shower enclosures to accommodate bottom glass clips.

Maintenance Features:

General Care and Cleaning (DoloMatte™ and Acrylic CXL™):
- Use a soft, damp cloth and mild dish soap and water for routine cleaning.
- Fingerprints on DoloMatte™ can be removed with denatured alcohol.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, aerosol sprays, or products described as "scrubbing bubbles."
- Do not use harsh chemicals like bleach, ammonia, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, paint thinner, chloride solvents, or other strong acid/base cleaners.
- Avoid cleaners with lime removal agents (e.g., CLR, Lime-Away).
- Prevent contact with nail polish, nail polish remover, hair dye, Wintergreen oil, dry cleaning solution, lacquer thinners, gasoline, pine oil, etc.
- Avoid sharp objects that might scratch the surface.
- For DoloMatte™: Mild abrasive cleaners like Soft Scrub, Bon Ami, or Barkeeper's Friend can be used for stubborn stains, along with a gray or red Scotch Brite pad. Small scratches can be removed by sanding with 600 grit wet/dry paper, followed by cleaning with a mild abrasive cleaner.
- For Acrylic CXL™: Never use abrasive cleansers. Small scratches can be removed by applying automotive polishing liquid and buffing lightly, or for deeper scratches, sanding with 400 grit wet/dry paper followed by a fine grit buffing compound.
- MTI strongly recommends contacting a surface repair professional for deep scratches or chips.
Teak Shower Tray Care and Cleaning:
- Clean every 30-90 days, depending on usage.
- Use the mildest cleaner possible, such as a small amount of dish soap or liquid laundry detergent (e.g., Wisk) with a stiff brush.
- Leave detergent on the wood for several minutes, then scrub lightly with the grain and rinse thoroughly.
- Use a soft cloth to wipe down rubber strips on the underside (do not scrub). Replacement strips are available from MTI's service department.
- Teak cleaning products (often found where boating supplies are sold) can be used.
- Can be sealed with products like Captain's Varnish (follow manufacturer's directions).
- Fine grit sandpaper can remove heavy stains (always sand with the wood grain).

Warranty Information:

Residential Warranty (DoloMatte™ Shower Pans): Ten-year (parts only) shell warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
Commercial Warranty (DoloMatte™ Shower Pans): Two-year (parts only) shell warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
Teak Shower Trays and Hidden Drain Covers; Sink Trays: Two-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
Teak Seats: One-year parts-only warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
Warranty registration card must be returned within 120 days of purchase (online at mtibaths.com or mailed).
Warranty extends only to the original consumer/purchaser and is valid within the continental USA.
Installation must be in an indoor, climate-controlled, residential/commercial environment, following manufacturer's instructions.
Exclusions include labor charges, removal/installation expense, freight, damage from common carrier/installer/user, display/floor model units, overstock-sale units, accessories (valve/drain kits), product modification, improper installation/care/maintenance, failure to water/system test, and use for unintended purposes.
MTI is not responsible for leaks due to improper drain/valve installation or incidental/consequential damages.
MTI reserves the right to inspect malfunctions/defects and determine appropriate action.
Replacement parts may differ from originally supplied.

Safety Instructions:

Supervise children and elderly/handicapped individuals when using the unit.
Never leave a running shower unattended.
Use only for its intended purpose and with manufacturer-recommended attachments.
If GFCI fails, disconnect the unit and have it serviced by a qualified representative.
Shut off electrical outlets before servicing.
Never operate electrically connected devices within 5' of the shower.
Enter and exit the shower slowly to reduce injury risk.
Inlet water temperature should not exceed 60° C (140° F) to avoid personal injury and surface discoloration.
Installer/Owner is responsible for complying with all state and local codes.
Always store electrical equipment in a dry place away from the bather.
For Radiance®: Do not splice or couple data cables; use continuous cables for remote keypads. Do not alter or remove the power supply cord. If a wall mount switch is desired, it should control the receptacle.
