Group Call
40. The pager may operate as part of a group of up to either 10 or 100 users. This is
achieved using a second address. See `Group Address' in Annexe A to Section 3.
Test Mode
41. Test mode is an optional Engineering function which, when enabled, produces a short
test alert instead of the normal length one. The call comparator and any other alert
options programmed are overridden. The test alert is 0.5s of normal volume tone with
0.5s of LED with no vibration. The tone is suppressed in Mute mode except when an
override beep code has been received. The display shows `
TEST
' for 1.25s when the
pager is called. The time stamp or M (message) number and terminator characters are
shown as normal but any message or speech is ignored.
42. Manual speech is available in test mode. The speech channel opens if the Cancel
button is pressed and held for 2s and remains open indefinitely until Cancel is pressed
again.
43. In test mode only, the number of calls received are recorded and stored in the EEPROM
when the pager is switched off or reset. It is possible to interrogate the call counter
using a P648 programming unit. The counter stores numbers up to 255 before resetting
to zero.
BATTERY CARE
44. Use only the following batteries in the pager; R6S disposable (for non-vibrate), P550
disposable (for when the vibrate option is incorporated) and P501 rechargeable for
either option. Note the following:
a) To obtain the maximum life from the battery cancel the alert quickly and switch off
the pager when it is not in use.
b) If the pager is not to be used for a month or more it is recommended that the battery
be removed.
NOTE: All stored messages are lost when the battery is removed or the pager is
turned off.
