DO NOT PRESS THE OFF BUTTON WHEN THE PAGER IS IN THE ABSENCE RACK
OR PROGRAMMING POCKET OR THE EEPROM MAY BECOME CORRUPTED.
48. The three contacts at the base of the pager are used for absence, charging and
programming purposes. The pager contains a rack message which may be up to a
maximum of nine characters in length. The factory programmed default rack message
`absent'
may be changed to a user name by using P648H programming software.
49. Insert the pager into a pocket within the rack. The following rack message appears on
the display when the pager recognises absence mode.
ABSENT or USER NAME
50. The pager is interrogated by the system and if a user number is associated with the
pager number, the user number is displayed as follows:
ABSENT 1234 or USER NAME 1234
51. If the interrogation is unsuccessful there are two possibilities:
a) If there is no contact between system and pager, the following display is shown:
ABSENT or USER NAME
b) If there is no user number associated with the pager number, the following display
is shown:
ABSENT ---- or USER NAME ----
