If carbon is being deposited on the glass, logs, or combustion chamber surfaces, verify the logs are correctly positioned. Open the air shutter to increase the primary air. Check the input rate, manifold pressure, and orifice size against the rating plate values. Ensure the door gasketing is intact and provides a tight seal. Check for holes and proper sealing of both the 5" and 8" vent liners at all joints. Ensure the minimum rise per foot has been adhered to for any horizontal venting. Clean the glass with a recommended gas fireplace glass cleaner, but only when the glass is not hot.
