The installation process requires specific tools and torque specifications for various metric steel bolts:

  • Required Tools: 13mm Box / Open-End Wrench, 13mm Socket, 5mm Hex Key Socket, 6mm Hex Key Socket, Torque Wrench.
  • Thread Locker Application: Loctite 242/243 or equivalent thread locker must be used on all threaded fasteners (except with Nyloc nuts).
  • Bolt Torque Specifications:
    • 6mm bolt (1.25 pitch): 10 to 13.5 N-m (8 to 10 lbs-ft)
    • 8mm bolt (1.25 pitch): 25.5 to 28.5 N-m (19 to 21 lbs-ft)
    • 10mm bolt (1.75 pitch): 55.5 to 58 N-m (41 to 43 lbs-ft)
    • 12mm bolt (1.25 pitch): 61 to 65 N-m (45 to 48 lbs-ft)

The machine must be secured to the floor using either 10mm or 3/8in. (grade 5 minimum) bolts, utilizing a minimum of 3 anchoring holes provided. All taper roller bearings are shipped pre-packed with grease, but installers are responsible for verifying full lubrication and adding general purpose Lithium Grade 2 grease if necessary.

Usage Features:

  • Safety Catches: The Nautilus Leverage® Row is equipped with safety catches specifically designed to enhance user safety. Users are instructed to always utilize these catches as outlined on the user placards.
  • Weight Plate Retention: Always utilize weight plate retention devices such as clamps or pins to secure weight plates.
  • Proper Loading: Load plates evenly and carefully to avoid tipping the equipment and potential crushing injuries. Do not exceed 230 lbs (104.5 kgs) per side of loaded weight.
  • Spotter Recommended: A spotter is recommended for all activities, especially when exercising on free weight and selectorized products.
  • Adjustments: Ensure all adjustment and locking features are properly secured before using the equipment.
  • Clothing and Hair: Wear proper exercise clothing and athletic shoes. Avoid loose clothing, tie back long hair, and keep towels away from moving parts.
  • Body Positioning: Face forward at all times and never attempt to turn around while the machine is moving. Keep hands and feet clear of all moving parts to avoid injury.
  • Health Considerations: Users should consult a physician before starting any exercise program, especially if they have known health conditions. Stop exercising if experiencing pain, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, or faintness.
  • Supervised Area: Nautilus recommends that all commercial fitness equipment be used in a supervised area with controlled access.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Examination: The safety and integrity of the machine depend on regular examination for damage and wear. Worn or damaged parts must be replaced immediately, or the equipment removed from service until repaired.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance routines. Keep a repair log of all maintenance activities.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the Leverage® Row with a light all-purpose cleaner (e.g., diluted Simple Green at a 30:1 solution) and dry with a soft cloth to prevent rust.
  • Bearing Lubrication: Taper roller bearings (731-0842 and 731-2595) must be fully packed with general purpose Lithium Grade 2 grease before installation.
  • Tapered Roller Bearing Tightening:
    1. Torque the bearing nut to 40-42 Lbs-Ft (without the tab washer) to square and seat the bearings.
    2. Back off the nut.
    3. Install the tab washer.
    4. Torque the nut to 7-9 Lbs-Ft.
    5. Bend tabs on washers to lock in place.
  • Fastener Inspection: Routinely inspect all fasteners that join attachments and framework, tightening as needed to maintain unit integrity.
  • Label Maintenance: Do not remove labels or nameplates. If unreadable or missing, contact Nautilus for replacements.
  • Replacement Parts: Use only replacement components supplied by Nautilus; substitutes are forbidden and will void all warranties.
  • Qualified Personnel: Ensure that any person(s) making adjustments, performing maintenance, or repair is qualified to do so. Nautilus offers service and maintenance training upon request.
