Precautions for Using Express5800/R120f-1E
Thank you for purchasing our product.
This document provides precautions on the use of this product.
Please read the precautions below and keep this document for future use.
■ Precautions
Precaution for using 4 KB sector HDD
When booting Microsoft(R) Windows Server(R) 2012 R2 from the 4 KB sector HDD of this server, a STOP Error
may occur.
The following web site provides the details of this error and its workaround.
http://www.nec.com/en/global/prod/express/collateral/configguide.html
Precaution for the Standby Power Save feature
Do not set Enabled at [Server] - [Power Control Configuration] - [Standby Power Save] setting in BIOS
Setup Utility.
If this setting is Enabled and the OS shuts down the server, the server cannot turn the power on by pressing
POWER Switch.
In that case, disconnect a power code (two codes when installing a redundant power supply unit), wait
30 seconds and connect the power code (two codes when installing a redundant power supply unit) again.
After 60 seconds, the server will start automatically. Run BIOS Setup Utility and change the [Standby
Power Save] to Disabled.
Precaution for hardware change
If you install/remove processors or DIMMs, follow the steps below.
1) Run BIOS Setup Utility.
2) Select One Time at [Server] - [Power Measurement Policy].
3) Select [Save & Exit] - [Save Changes and Exit] and restart the server.
Precaution for using Intel (R) Xeon (R) Processor E5-2600v3 family
Machine Check Exception (MCE) error might occur and a Hardware error will be recorded on Windows.
If Linux OS is used, Machine Check Events (MCE) might occur and a Hardware Error (Corrected error) will
be recorded.
Ignore these errors because the errors will be corrected automatically and will not affect the system
performance and operation.

Maximum number of logical drives (virtual drives)
Up to 31 logical drives can be created on this product.
