Overview

This document describes an extractor hood, a kitchen appliance designed to remove cooking fumes, odors, and steam from the air. It can operate in two primary modes: exhaust air mode and circulating air mode.

Function Description:

The extractor hood's main function is to improve air quality in the kitchen during and after cooking. In exhaust air mode, air drawn into the hood is cleaned by grease filters and then expelled to the exterior through a pipe system. This mode requires proper ducting to the outside. In circulating air mode, the air is cleaned by both grease filters and an activated carbon filter before being recirculated back into the kitchen. This mode is suitable when external venting is not possible or desired, but requires the installation of an activated carbon filter to bind odors.

The appliance features a fan with multiple speed settings, including an intensive mode for particularly strong odors and fumes. The lighting can be operated independently of the fan. Some models may also feature a glass front that can be adjusted to an intermediate position for enhanced extraction of strong smells and large amounts of steam.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Maximum height of use: 2000 meters above sea level.
  • Maximum weight of the extractor hood: 40 kg.
  • Electrical connection cable length: Approximately 1.30 m.
  • Exhaust air pipe diameter (recommended): 150 mm.
  • Exhaust air pipe diameter (alternative): 120 mm (requires a reducing connector).
  • Safety clearance for room air-dependent heat-producing appliances: The partial vacuum in the room where such appliances are installed must not exceed 4 Pa (0.04 mbar) when the extractor hood is in exhaust air mode.
  • LED light risk group: Risk group 1 (dazzling light, avoid direct eye contact for more than 100 seconds).
  • Gas burner operation: Avoid operating two gas burners simultaneously on the highest flame for longer than 15 minutes. A large burner (>5 kW) is equivalent to two gas burners.

Usage Features:

  • Fan Control: The appliance has an on/off button for the fan and three fan settings (1, 2, 3).
  • Intensive Mode: A dedicated 'P' symbol activates intensive mode for heavy fumes. This mode automatically reverts to fan setting 3 after approximately 6 minutes.
  • Lighting Control: A separate symbol controls the lighting, allowing it to be switched on, off, or dimmed independently of the fan.
  • Optimal Operation: For best results, switch on the extractor hood at the start of cooking and leave it on for several minutes after cooking is finished to effectively remove kitchen fumes.
  • Energy Saving Tips:
    • Ensure adequate air supply during cooking for efficient operation and reduced noise.
    • Adjust fan speed to the intensity of cooking fumes, using intensive mode only when necessary.
    • Switch off the hood and lighting when no longer needed.
    • Regularly clean and replace filters to maintain ventilation effectiveness and prevent fire hazards.

Maintenance Features:

  • Metal Mesh Grease Filters:
    • Removal: Open the glass front, unlock, and swing down the filter, supporting it from underneath.
    • Cleaning: Can be cleaned by hand (soak in hot soapy water, scrub with a brush, rinse, and drain on absorbent material) or in a dishwasher (use normal domestic dishwashing detergents, avoid heavily soiled cookware, place with ample space, select temperature no more than 50 °C).
    • Frequency: Recommended cleaning every 2 months.
    • Warning: Fatty deposits can catch fire; never operate without a grease filter.
  • Activated Carbon Filter (Circulating Air Mode): Must be installed to bind odors. Specific options and accessories are available from retailers or customer service.
  • General Cleaning:
    • Stainless Steel: Clean with hot soapy water and a soft cloth, drying in the direction of the grain. Special stainless steel cleaners can be used.
    • Painted Surfaces: Clean with a damp dish cloth and soft cloth. Do not use stainless steel cleaner.
    • Aluminium and Plastic: Clean with hot soapy water and a soft cloth.
    • Glass: Clean with glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Do not use a glass scraper.
    • Controls: Clean with hot soapy water and a damp dish cloth. Do not use a wet cloth or stainless steel cleaner on controls to prevent moisture ingress into electronics.
    • Warnings: Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning. Disconnect from power or switch off circuit breaker before cleaning. Do not use high-pressure or steam cleaners. Avoid harsh, abrasive, high-alcohol, or limescale-dissolving cleaning agents, as well as oven spray. Wear protective gloves when cleaning internal components due to sharp edges.
  • LED Lights: Defective LED lights must only be replaced by the manufacturer, customer service, or a qualified technician.
  • Troubleshooting: A dedicated section provides solutions for common malfunctions like the appliance not working or lights not functioning, often due to power supply issues or faulty fuses. For more complex issues, contact customer service.
