How to fix a Night Owl DVR that is not receiving power?

  If your Night Owl DVR system isn't receiving power or isn't powering up, first check that the cable from the power adapter is securely connected at both ends. Also, ensure the power adapter is firmly connected to the back of the unit. If the cables are connected but the system still isn't getting power, make sure the system is switched ON (the LED indicators on the front should light up). If you're using a power bar or surge protector, try plugging the DVR directly into the wall outlet to bypass it. Confirm that the outlet has power by testing it with another device, like a phone charger, or try a different outlet.

  If your Night Owl DVR hard drive is not detected, remove the cover and check that the hard drive cables are firmly connected. If there is no hard drive, open the cover and install a 3.5" SATA hard drive.

  If your Night Owl DVR hard drive is full (0%) and the unit is no longer recording, go to the Device Menu > HDD and ensure that Overwrite is set to Auto.

  If your Night Owl DVR mouse is not detected by the system, ensure the mouse cable is firmly connected to the USB Mouse port on the front panel. If that doesn't work, power off the system (disconnect the power cable), then firmly connect the USB mouse to the USB Mouse port on the front panel. Reconnect the power cable to the DC 19V port on the rear panel to reset the system.

  If the image on the Night Owl DVR appears, but does not have sound, check the AUDIO connection to the DVR. Also, left click in Live View to bring up the Volume control and ensure that the channel(s) are not low or muted. Finally, increase the volume on external speakers (not included). The whirring noise means the exhaust fan is working normal.
