  If the battery inserted in your Nikon Digital Camera isn't charging, confirm all connections. Check if 'Off' is selected for 'Charge by computer' in the setup menu. When charging by connecting the camera to a computer, battery charging stops when the camera is turned off or if the computer is suspended (sleeping), and the camera may turn off. Also, depending upon computer specifications, settings, and status, it may be impossible to charge the battery inserted into the camera via computer connection.

  Your Nikon Digital Camera might not be turning on because the battery is exhausted. Also, when connecting to an electrical outlet using a Charging AC Adapter, the camera cannot be turned on.

  If your Nikon Digital Camera is not focusing, the subject may be too close to the camera. Try shooting using macro mode, or Scene auto selector or Close-up scene mode. The intended subject might be one with which autofocus does not perform well. Select Auto for AF assist in the set up menu. You can also try turning the camera off and then on again.

  If the digital zoom is not working, it might be set to Off in the setup menu. Digital zoom is also not available in the following situations: when Continuous is set to Multi-shot 16 in A (auto) mode; when AF area mode is set to Subject tracking in A (auto) mode; when Scene auto selector, Portrait, Night portrait, or Pet portrait scene mode is selected; or when shooting in smart portrait mode.

  The flash may not fire if the flash mode is set to W (Off). Some scene modes with which the flash does not function might be selected. 'On' might be selected for 'Blink proof' in the smart portrait menu, or another function that restricts flash might be enabled.
