Using the Self-timer
The camera is equipped with a self-timer that releases the shutter about 10
seconds or 2 seconds after you press the shutter-release button. Set Photo VR
to Off in the setup menu (A78) when using a tripod to stabilize the camera
during shooting.
1 Press the multi selector J (n).
2 Select n 10s or n 2s, and press
the k button.
n 10s (10 seconds): Use on important
occasions, such as weddings.
n 2s (2 seconds): Use to prevent camera
shake.
If a setting is not applied by pressing the k
button within a few seconds, the selection
will be canceled.
When the shooting mode is Pet portrait scene mode, Y (pet portrait auto
release) is displayed (A39). The self-timer cannot be used.
3 Frame the picture and press the shutter-release button
halfway.
Focus and exposure are set.
4 Press the shutter-release
button the rest of the way
down.
Countdown starts. The self-timer
lamp flashes and then glows
steadily about one second before
the shutter is released.
When the shutter is released, the
self-timer is set to k.
To stop the countdown, press
the shutter-release button again.
