Overview

The Ninja Foodi MAX PRO AG651UK is a versatile health grill, flat plate, and air fryer designed for household use, offering a range of cooking functions and smart features to enhance the cooking experience. This appliance combines multiple cooking methods into one unit, making it suitable for various meal preparations from grilling and roasting to air frying and baking.

Function Description:

The AG651UK offers seven primary cooking functions:

  • Grill: This function provides both closed-lid and open-lid cooking. Closed-lid grilling uses top and bottom heat, ideal for large or thick cuts of meat, frozen food, or achieving an all-around sear. Open-lid grilling is best for delicate foods or lean proteins, developing char-grilled textures without over-cooking.
  • Roast: Designed to tenderize meats and roast vegetables, offering a different texture and flavor profile compared to grilling.
  • Air Fry: This function allows for crispiness and crunch with little to no oil, making it a healthier alternative for fried foods.
  • Bake: Used for making cakes, treats, desserts, and other baked goods.
  • Flat Plate: Perfect for delicate foods that require flipping or stirring, such as onions, eggs, fish, or fajitas. It can be used with the lid open for constant attention or closed for melting cheese, crisping toppings, or quickly cooking thicker foods.
  • Reheat: Revives leftovers by gently warming them, aiming for crispy results.
  • Dehydrate: Dries meats, fruits, and vegetables to create healthy snacks.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 220-240V~ 50-60Hz
  • Watts: 2460W
  • Model Number: AG651UK

Usage Features:

The appliance is equipped with a user-friendly control panel featuring function buttons, operating buttons, and a digital cooking probe for precise temperature control.

Control Panel Elements:

  • Function Buttons: GRILL, ROAST, AIR FRY, BAKE, FLAT PLATE, REHEAT, DEHYDRATE. It also includes MANUAL, PRESET, and COOK LEVEL buttons for use with the digital cooking probe.
  • Operating Buttons:
    • POWER (ن): Turns the unit on/off.
    • DIAL: Used to select cooking functions or other settings. Pressing the center of the dial starts or stops the selected function.
    • TEMP: Adjusts the cooking temperature.
    • TIME: Adjusts the cook time.
    • FUNCTION: Clears all settings or is used when the probe is in "Rest" state.
    • PREHEAT: The unit automatically preheats after settings are chosen. Pressing PREHEAT after pressing the dial skips preheating (not recommended for best results).

Digital Cooking Probe:

The AG651UK features a Digital Cooking Probe for precise internal temperature monitoring, ensuring food is cooked to the desired doneness.

  • Probe Insertion: The probe should be inserted horizontally into the center of the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bone, fat, or gristle. For whole chicken, it should go into the thickest part of the breast, parallel to the bone, without going through into the cavity.
  • Probe Usage: Once the probe is plugged in, the PRESET and MANUAL probe buttons become active. Users can select food type and desired cook level (Rare to Well Done) using PRESET, or manually set the internal temperature using MANUAL.
  • Automatic Shut-off: When using the probe, there is no need to set a cook time, as the unit automatically turns off the heating element and alerts the user when cooking is complete.
  • Carry-over Cooking: After cooking, the protein should be transferred to a plate and allowed to rest for 3-5 minutes. This is a crucial step as the food continues to cook, ensuring the desired outcome.

Cooking Accessories:

The unit comes with a grill plate, flat plate, crisper basket, and splatter guard.

  • Grill Plate Installation: Position the grill plate in the front of the base, hook it in, then press down on the back until it clicks into place.
  • Flat Plate Usage: The flat plate sits on top of the grill plate. Ensure the lip on the flat plate aligns with the lip on the grill plate to prevent tilting.
  • Crisper Basket Usage: The crisper basket sits on the grill plate, positioned along the rear, with its feet in the grill plate spaces.
  • Splatter Guard: Located on the underside of the lid, it keeps the heating element clean and must always be installed during cooking to prevent oil build-up and smoking. It is removable for cleaning.

Preheating:

Preheating is highly recommended for best results, especially for grilling, to prevent overcooking, smoke, and longer cook times. The unit will beep and display "ADD FOOD" when preheating is complete.

Batch Grilling:

When grilling multiple batches, it is recommended to empty fat/oil from the cooking pot and clean the splatter guard between uses to prevent grease from burning and smoke.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and performance of the AG651UK.

  • Cooling: Always allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning. Unplug the unit and keep the lid open after removing food to facilitate cooling.
  • Dishwasher Safe Parts: The grill plate, flat plate, crisper basket, and splatter guard are dishwasher safe. For best results, rinse them with warm, soapy water before placing them in the dishwasher.
  • Hand-wash Only Parts: The digital cooking probe and probe holder are hand-wash only. NEVER immerse the main unit or the probe in water or any other liquid. Clean the probe with a damp cloth.
  • Inner Lid Cleaning: Wipe down the inner lid with a damp towel or cloth after each use to deodorize and remove grease.
  • Stubborn Residue: For food residue or grease stuck on parts, soak them in warm, soapy water before cleaning. The splatter guard can be soaked overnight or boiled in a pan of water for 10 minutes to soften baked-on grease.
  • Storage: When stacking coated accessories, place a cloth or paper towel between each piece to protect the coated surfaces.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive brushes or sponges on cooking surfaces, as they can damage the coating.

Troubleshooting:

The unit provides error messages and indicators to assist with troubleshooting:

  • "ADD FOOD": Preheating is complete, time to add ingredients.
  • "Shut Lid": Lid is open and needs to be closed.
  • "Plug In": Probe is not plugged in correctly.
  • "PRBE ERR": Unit timed out before food reached set internal temperature.
  • "Add Plate": Grill plate is not installed in the base unit.
  • "E": Unit is not functioning properly; contact Customer Service.

The manual also addresses common issues like food being overcooked/undercooked (emphasizing correct probe placement and resting), lack of noise during Flat Plate preheat (normal as fan starts later), smoke emission (check temperature settings and splatter guard), and how to pause cooking (open the lid).
