Technical Specifications

Overview

The Ninja Woodfire™ Outdoor Grill, OG700 Series, is a versatile outdoor cooking appliance designed for grilling, smoking, air crisping, baking, roasting, broiling, and dehydrating. It is intended for outdoor household use only and emphasizes safety through clear instructions and warnings.

Function Description

The grill offers multiple cooking functions, each tailored for specific culinary tasks:

  • GRILL: This function is ideal for closed-hood cooking, providing top and bottom heat. It's best for grilling large or thick cuts of meat, frozen foods, or achieving an all-around sear. For delicate foods or lean proteins, the hood can be opened to develop char-grilled textures without overcooking.
  • SMOKER: Designed to infuse deep, smoky flavors into food, this function cooks at low and slow temperatures to tenderize large cuts of meat.
  • AIR CRISP: This setting achieves crispiness and crunch with minimal oil, utilizing higher fan speeds for healthier results.
  • BAKE: Perfect for baking cakes, treats, desserts, and more, this function operates with lower fan speeds.
  • ROAST: Used for tenderizing meats, roasting vegetables, and other ingredients.
  • BROIL: Provides a crispy finishing touch to meals or melts cheese on sandwiches.
  • DEHYDRATE: This function allows for dehydrating meats, fruits, and vegetables to create healthy snacks.

A key feature of this grill is the WOODFIRE FLAVOR TECHNOLOGY, which can be activated with Grill, Air Crisp, Bake, Roast, or Dehydrate functions to infuse food with authentic woodfire flavor using Ninja Woodfire Pellets.

Usage Features

The grill is operated via a dial and several buttons. The dial powers the unit on and off and selects the desired cooking function. The display illuminates when the unit is powered on, showing temperature and time settings.

  • Temperature and Time Control: The TEMP and TIME buttons (with + and - controls) allow users to adjust the default temperature and cook time for each function.
  • START/STOP Button: This button initiates or stops the current cooking function. It can also be pressed and held for 3 seconds to skip the preheat cycle.
  • Preheating: For most functions (Grill, Air Crisp, Bake, Roast), preheating is recommended for best results, ensuring even cooking and preventing excessive smoke or longer cook times. The unit will beep and display "ADD FOOD" when preheating is complete. The Smoker, Broil, and Dehydrate functions do not require preheating unless Woodfire Flavor Technology is enabled.
  • Pellet Management: Ninja Woodfire Pellets are added to a dedicated smoke box located on the right side of the hood. A pellet scoop is provided for safe and accurate filling. It's crucial to fill the smoke box to the top and level off to avoid spilling, and never to overflow it, as this can lead to combustion and burn injury. The smoke box lid must be fully closed during operation to prevent flames from escaping.
  • Handle Installation: The grill comes with left and right assembly handles that need to be attached using the included Allen wrench and screws.
  • Extension Cord Usage: If an extension cord is necessary, it must be an outdoor-rated cord (marked "SJOW", 12 AWG) and connected only to GFCI grounded electrical outlets. Using an incorrect cord can lead to overheating, melting, voltage drops, and impact cooking performance.
  • Food Placement: For grilling, food is placed directly on the grill grate. For air crisping, baking, or roasting smaller items, a crisper basket can be placed on the grill grate.
  • Safety during Operation: Users are advised to avoid touching hot surfaces and to use protective hot pads or insulated oven mitts. Care should be taken when opening the grill to avoid splashes or burns. In case of a grease fire or black smoke, the unit should be unplugged immediately, and users should wait for smoking to stop before removing accessories.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential for the longevity and safe operation of the Ninja Woodfire™ Outdoor Grill.

  • Cooling Down: The grill and all accessories must be completely cool before cleaning, disassembly, or storage to prevent burns. The hood should be kept open after removing food to facilitate quicker cooling.
  • Cleaning Accessories: The grill grate, crisper basket, and grease tray should be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly. These parts, along with the base unit, are NOT dishwasher safe. Abrasive brushes or sponges should not be used on cooking surfaces to avoid damaging the coating.
  • Smoke Box Cleaning: The smoke box should be removed after pellets have completely burned out and the box has cooled. While not always required, a wire brush can be used to remove creosote if desired. Liquid cleaning solutions should NOT be used on the smoke box.
  • Main Unit Cleaning: The inner hood should be wiped down with a damp towel or cloth after each use to deodorize and remove grease. The main unit should NEVER be immersed in water or any other liquid, nor placed in a dishwasher.
  • Grease Tray: The cooled grease tray should be carefully removed and its contents discarded after each use, then hand-washed in warm, soapy water.
  • Storage: The grill should be stored indoors when not in use for extended periods. If stored outdoors, it should always be covered with a grill cover to protect it from the elements. Wood pellets should be stored in a dry location, away from heat-producing appliances and other fuel containers.
  • Regular Inspection: The appliance and power cord should be regularly inspected for damage. If any malfunction or damage occurs, use should be stopped immediately, and Customer Service should be contacted.
  • Grease and Ash Management: It is important to keep the grill clean and prevent excess grease or ash from accumulating inside or on the smoke box and cartridge, as this significantly increases the risk of grease fires and can taint food flavor.
