Overview

The Ninja Woodfire™ Pro Outdoor Grill & Smoker with Built-in Thermometer (OG750 Series) is a versatile outdoor cooking appliance designed for household use, offering a range of functions including grilling, smoking, air crisping, baking, roasting, broiling, and dehydrating. It features integrated Woodfire Flavor Technology, which allows users to infuse their food with deep, smoky flavors using genuine Ninja Woodfire Pellets. The appliance is equipped with a built-in thermometer for precise cooking and an intuitive control panel for ease of use.

Function Description

The Ninja Woodfire™ Pro offers multiple cooking functions to cater to various culinary needs:

  • GRILL: This function is ideal for closed-hood cooking, providing top and bottom heat. It's best suited for grilling large or thick cuts of meat, frozen foods, or achieving an all-around sear. For delicate foods or lean proteins, the hood can be opened to develop char-grilled textures without overcooking. When using the grill function, the unit automatically begins preheating, and users are advised to wait for the "ADD FOOD" prompt before placing ingredients for optimal results.
  • SMOKER: Designed to create deep, smoky flavors, this function involves cooking low and slow to tenderize large cuts of meat. Woodfire Flavor Technology is automatically enabled with the smoker function, ensuring an authentic smoky taste. There is no preheat time for the smoker function, allowing users to place food immediately.
  • AIR CRISP: This function allows users to achieve crispiness and crunch with minimal oil, utilizing higher fan speeds. It's suitable for a healthier alternative to deep-frying. Similar to grilling, the unit preheats, and users should wait for the "ADD FOOD" prompt.
  • BAKE: This function is for baking cakes, treats, desserts, and more, using lower fan speeds. It also includes a preheating phase. When using the Bake function, it's important to use appropriate accessories like a baking dish for wet or battered ingredients, or the crisper basket for loose items.
  • ROAST: This function is used to tenderize meats, roast vegetables, and more. It involves a preheating cycle before food is added.
  • BROIL: This function provides a crispy finishing touch to meals or melts cheese on sandwiches. There is no preheat time for the broil function, allowing immediate placement of food.
  • DEHYDRATE: This function is for dehydrating meats, fruits, and vegetables to create healthy snacks. It also includes a preheating phase if Woodfire Flavor Technology is enabled.

Woodfire Flavor Technology: This feature can be activated with the Grill, Air Crisp, Bake, Roast, and Dehydrate functions by pressing the dedicated button. When activated, a flame icon illuminates on the display screen. For the Smoker function, this technology is automatically enabled. To use this feature, genuine Ninja Woodfire Pellets must be added to the smoke box. The unit goes through an ignition cycle (IGN) to light the pellets, infusing the food with a distinct smoky flavor.

Built-in Thermometer: The appliance includes a built-in thermometer for precise temperature monitoring, ensuring food is cooked to the desired doneness. Users can select preset doneness levels (Rare through Well) for various food types like fish, chicken/turkey, pork, and beef/lamb, or manually set a target temperature. The thermometer is inserted horizontally into the thickest part of the protein, avoiding bone, fat, or gristle. The unit automatically stops heating when the desired doneness is almost reached, accounting for carry-over cooking during a recommended 3-5 minute rest period. This feature is particularly useful for cooking multiple proteins to different doneness levels or different types of protein, guiding users on when to remove specific items or transfer the thermometer.

Usage Features

  • Control Panel: The intuitive control panel features a dial to power on the unit and select cooking functions. Temperature and time adjustments are made using dedicated arrow buttons. A START/STOP button initiates or pauses cooking, and a MANUAL/PRESET button allows for thermometer settings.
  • Preheating: For most functions (Grill, Air Crisp, Bake, Roast), preheating is strongly recommended for best results. Adding food before preheating is complete can lead to overcooking, smoke, and longer cook times. The unit will beep and display "ADD FOOD" when preheating is complete. Users can skip preheating by pressing and holding START/STOP for 4 seconds, but this is not recommended for optimal results.
  • Pellet Management: The smoke box, located on the right side of the hood, is designed to be filled with Ninja Woodfire Pellets using the provided scoop. It's crucial not to overflow the pellet box, as this can lead to combustion, flame, and damage. Pellets may continue to burn after cooking, so it's important to allow the smoke box to cool completely before removal and disposal. For back-to-back smoking sessions, users can refill the smoke box when half the pellets have burned, but should not re-ignite pellets more than 1 or 2 times.
  • Lid Operation: The grill is designed for closed-hood cooking for most functions, which helps maintain consistent temperatures and promotes even cooking. For delicate foods on the grill, the hood can be opened to develop char-grilled textures.
  • Safety Features: The appliance includes warnings against touching hot surfaces, requiring the use of protective hot pads or insulated oven mitts. It also emphasizes maintaining minimum safe distances from combustible materials and using the pellet scoop for adding pellets to avoid burn injury.
  • Extension Cord Usage: If an extension cord is necessary, it must be specific for outdoor use, marked "W," and rated as "SUITABLE FOR USE WITH OUTDOOR APPLIANCES." Recommended gauges are 14-gauge for cords up to 25 feet and 12-gauge for 25 to 50 feet. Cords longer than 50 feet are not recommended to prevent overheating or voltage drops.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues such as "Add Food," "Shut Lid," "Add Grill," "E," and "CLD" messages on the display, circuit breaker trips, and issues with pellet ignition or doneness.

Maintenance Features

  • Cooling: After each use, the appliance and all accessories must be allowed to cool thoroughly before cleaning, disassembly, or storage to prevent personal injury and burns.
  • Cleaning Accessories: The grill grate, crisper basket, and grease tray should be hand-washed in warm, soapy water. These parts, along with the smoke box, are not dishwasher safe. The pellet scoop is dishwasher safe.
  • Thermometer Care: The built-in thermometer and its holder are hand-wash only. It should not be immersed in water or any other liquid and should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Main Unit Cleaning: The inner hood should be wiped down with a damp towel or cloth after each use to deodorize and remove grease. The main unit should never be immersed in water or any other liquid and is not dishwasher safe.
  • Smoke Box Cleaning: While not required after every use, it is recommended to use a wire brush to remove extra creosote from the smoke box after every 10 uses. Liquid cleaning solutions should not be used on the smoke box.
  • Storage: When stacking coated accessories, a cloth or paper towel should be placed between each piece to protect the coated surfaces. The grill should be kept covered when not in use and stored out of reach of children.
  • Grease Tray: The cooled grease tray should be carefully removed and its contents safely discarded after each use, then hand-washed in warm, soapy water.
  • Regular Inspection: The appliance and power cord should be regularly inspected for damage. If any damage or malfunction occurs, use should be stopped immediately, and customer service should be contacted.
  • Pellet Storage: Wood pellets should always be stored in a dry location, away from heat-producing appliances and other fuel containers, as moisture can compromise ignition and smoke flavor quality.
