TIDE RANGE DIAL
TIDE HEIGHT DIAL
TIDE HEIGHT DIAL
(REASON LS AND REASON)
You need to get a local tide chart from a local surf shop, newspaper,
or the internet to initially set this dial. This dial indicates Tide height,
direction (rising or falling), and the approximate time to the next high
or low tide. Make sure your watch has the correct time and date,
then from your tide chart, calculate the tide height right now, then:
For quickest setting:
(1) Make sure your watch is dry.
(2) Pull the crown out one click only.
(3) Turn the crown counter-clockwise (away from you) to set
the Tide height hand to the correct height (each tick mark
represents approximately one hour intervals).
For a more accurate setting:
(1) Make sure your watch is dry.
(2) Pull the crown out fully.
(3) Set the time to exactly the last high tide time as shown in
your chart.
(4) Push back the crown one click (half way).
(5) Turn the crown counter-clockwise (towards you) to turn the
high tide hand to High.
(6) Carefully pull the crown out fully.
(7) Turn the hands to reset the correct time.
(8) Push the crown in completely.
TIDE RANGE DIAL
(REASON LS)
There is no setting required for the Tide Range dial. This dial is
preset at the factory to synchronize with the lunar cycle. As long
as Moon phase dial is set accurately to your local area, the Range
dial will read correctly. This dial indicates the difference between
successive high and low tides. This doesnt necessarily show very
high or very low tides, but rather the amount of water variant from
high to low and back to high again. When the hand is in the Thick
gray area, the dial indicates periods of maximum tidal range, called
Spring Tides. The Thin gray area indicates times of minimal tidal
range know as Neap Tides.
Note: Neap Tides occur on the first and last quarters of the
moons cycle and relate to minimal tidal ranges. Spring Tides
occur on the full and new moon cycles and relate to the
maximum tidal movement periods of the month. So full
moons are a generally a good time to be surfing (Indonesia).
