What to do if an error code appears on my Nonin Avant 9700 Medical Equipment?
    • R
      Rhonda RamosAug 19, 2025
If an error code appears, the Avant 9700 has encountered an error. First, turn the unit off and then back on again to remove the error code. If the error persists, disconnect all power (AC and battery), and then reconnect the power and turn the unit back on. If the error still persists, note the error code and contact your distributor or NONIN Customer Support.

How to fix a Nonin Medical Equipment device that will not activate?
    • S
      Sarah GrantAug 23, 2025
If your Nonin device isn't activating, it might be due to several reasons: the device may have no power, so plug in the AC power supply. Also, the battery pack might be connected incorrectly, so check the battery pack connector orientation. If the battery pack is not charged, plug in the device AC power supply to charge it. Note that new battery packs must complete one charge/discharge/recharge cycle before the Battery LED displays the actual capacity.

What to do if a dash appears in the %SpO display on Nonin Avant 9700 Medical Equipment?
    • D
      Donna WhiteheadAug 26, 2025
If a dash appears in the %SpO display, it indicates an inadequate signal from the finger. Try repositioning the sensor or applying it to a different finger, and keep the sensor motionless for at least 10 seconds. Warming the sensor application site may also help. The dash may also appear if the finger was removed from the sensor, so ensure proper placement.

      Regina BradyAug 28, 2025
If you can't hear audible alarms while the unit is in Alarm mode, the 2-minute Alarm Silence button may be activated. Press the Alarm Silence button to activate the alarm volume, or wait for 2 minutes, after which the alarm tones will automatically activate. Alternatively, if option switch 1 is in the UP position, the unit’s volume may be set to zero. Adjust the alarm volume, or return option switch 1 to the DOWN position if audible alarms are required.

      Angela PhillipsAug 30, 2025
If a dash appears in the %SpO display, it indicates a poor signal from the digit is being detected or the digit was removed from the sensor. Try repositioning the digit or inserting a different digit, ensuring the sensor remains motionless for at least 10 seconds. If the digit was removed, reinsert it and keep the sensor motionless. If the issue persists, turn the unit off, check all connections, and retry.

Why does my Nonin Avant 9700 Medical Equipment show frequent pulse quality indications?
    • K
      khaneySep 1, 2025
Frequent or steady pulse quality indications can occur due to excessive ambient light, application of the Avant 9700 to a polished or artificial fingernail, or excessive patient motion. Shield the sensor from the light source, apply the sensor to a finger without artificial or polished nails, and reduce patient motion.

How to fix no green pulse display on the bargraph of Nonin Avant 9700?
    • G
      Gabrielle GreenSep 4, 2025
If you're unable to obtain a green pulse display on the bargraph, the patient's pulse strength might be low, or circulation is reduced because of excess pressure on the sensor, or the digit is cold. Try repositioning the digit or inserting a different digit, and keep the sensor motionless for at least 10 seconds. Allow the digit to rest comfortably without squeezing or pressing the sensor on a hard surface. Warm the digit by rubbing or covering with a blanket.

What to do if I still can't get a green pulse display on my Nonin Avant 9700 Medical Equipment?
    • Y
      youngcalebSep 6, 2025
If you are still unable to obtain a green pulse display, ensure the sensor is applied correctly. Possible interference from sources like arterial catheters, blood pressure cuffs, electrosurgical procedures, or infusion lines might be the cause. Reduce or eliminate any interference and ensure the sensor is not placed on the same arm being used for other patient therapies or diagnostics, such as a blood pressure cuff. Also, check that the red LED is illuminated in the digit insertion area and that the sensor is securely attached to the device.
