Function Description

The B6BW Air Handler is a component of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system, designed to circulate conditioned air throughout a building. The unit is shipped with a nitrogen holding charge, which requires careful handling during installation and servicing. It is designed to be controlled by a thermostat, allowing users to set desired temperature and fan modes (AUTO, ON, COOL, HEAT).

Refrigerant: The evaporator coil is shipped with a nitrogen holding charge. The unit rating plate specifies the proper type and quantity of refrigerant.
Electrical System: Requires line voltage power, proper grounding, and circuit protection in accordance with local building codes, National Electrical Code (ANSI/NFPA 70), or Canadian Electric Code Part 1 CSA C.22.1. The transformer may have a dual voltage primary tap (24V, 208V, 230V, 240V).

Minimum Clearances:
- Left Side: 0 Inches

- Front: See Notes (24 in. minimum for servicing, 36 in. recommended).
- Alcove Installations: 24 in. minimum clearance from front to nearest wall/partition for servicing (36 in. recommended).
- Closet Installations: Require a return air grill in the door or a partially louvered door for proper air circulation. Minimum open free area of 235 in² for clearances 6" or greater, and 250 in² for clearances between 1"-5". A fully louvered closet door is strongly recommended.
Drain Pan: Designed with primary and secondary drain locations, requiring a trap in the primary drain line.

Usage Features

Thermostat Control: The unit is operated via a thermostat, allowing users to select system modes (COOL, HEAT, OFF) and fan modes (AUTO, ON).
Multi-Speed Blower: The blower speed can be configured to optimize system performance and comfort for different heating and cooling demands.
Continuous Low Speed Fan Operation: Users can select continuous low speed fan operation for constant air circulation.
System Cooling: When the thermostat is set to COOL and the temperature is lowered, the blower energizes, and the air handler provides cool air.

Residential Garage Installation: Can be installed in a residential garage, provided it is located or protected to prevent physical damage by vehicles.
Construction Use: Can be used for temporary heating during construction if specific criteria are met, including proper installation, thermostat control, filter use, and inspection/cleaning before occupancy.

Maintenance Features

Filter Access: The air filter is easily accessible from the front of the unit without tools and should be inspected frequently and replaced when necessary.
Blower Compartment: Regular inspection and cleaning of the blower compartment, wheel, and motor are recommended to prevent dust and lint buildup, which can lead to efficiency loss and equipment damage.
Drain Line Maintenance: Condensate drain lines should be checked for proper drainage to prevent blockages and potential water damage.
