Site Planning
Perform a visual inspection to determine and document the physical characteristics of the site.
Ensure that the Site Planning meets the following requirements before you begin the installation:
Identify the roof area, wall, or tower for mounting the Outdoor Solution.
Choose a site with a clear line-of-sight from the transmitting antenna.
Determine the access area, such as a stairway or a ladder.
Identify existing equipment installations and assess the condition of proposed towers or mounting structures.
Assess environmental conditions, such as temperature, ventilation, and humidity.
Ethernet
The AP must be <100 meters from the WSS (WLAN Security Switch).
Note. Nortel recommends using outdoor CAT5E Ethernet Cable for all external connections.
Antenna
Ensure that antennas have advanced deployment flexibility, coverage, and performance.
This implies that planners should choose:
An antenna pattern that meets coverage requirements while allowing for convenient AP placement and
installation.
Antennas that optimize the coverage pattern and deliver higher available data rates to user concentrations.
Coverage pattern and available data rates in areas that are not adequately serviced.
