To minimize path loss effects, you can either increase the transmit power, increases the system gain, decrease
the operating frequency or increase the receiver sensitivity on the other end of the wireless communications
link. In addition, path loss increases by a factor of approximately 6 dB for every doubling of frequency or path
distance. This factor is significant because it means that a doubling of the antenna or system gain, an increase
of 3 dB, will not double the propagation distance of the signal. To double the usable coverage area or path
distance, the antenna or system gain would have to increase by a factor of four, which equates to an increase of
6 dB.
