Clean the air filter. (Dusty environments require daily maintenance.)
•
Change the engine oil filter (new or overhauled dozer only).
•
Change the hydraulic oil filter
•
Change the fuel filter (new or overhauled dozer only).
•
Check the water-trap filter and inspect filter for water. If necessary, clean it
and remove any air in the oil.
•
Lubricate the following the points with the appropriate grease:
Swing shaft sleeves
Water pump bearings
Clutch release bearing
Cylinder pins

Use lubricant, grease, and fuel appropriate for winter. Antifreeze is
recommended.
•
Drain out all the water in the radiator and the engine body after each shift
(only when antifreeze isn’t used).
•
Start up the engine according to winter maintenance conditions (following
the instructions in the 403F-E17T Perkins Operation and Maintenance Manual).
•
The battery should be kept in conditions warmer than 14° F (-10° C)
because the condensation point of electrolytes is about 14° F (-10° C). The
discharge rate should not exceed 25%.
•
The dozer should be stored in a warm environment.
