alteringthestateoftheinputfunction(i.e.slidingwindowposition)andmonitoringthechangeonthedisplay.
8.3 AirflowSensorPerformance
Verification
Theindividualairflowsensorscanberoutinelycheckedduringcalibration orindiagnosticstoassuretheyarereadingand
activewithintherangeofuse(0to200fpm)(0to1.02mps).Theairflowsensorscanalsobecheckedintherunmode
throughperformanceverification,forresponsivenesstochangingairflowconditions.
8.3.1 RunMode
Tochecktheairflowsensorinrunmode,firstallowthecabinettooperatenormallyforaminimumof5minutes.
Then,placearolledpieceofpaperoverthedownflowsensorintheworkzoneand leavethepaperonthesensor
foratleast2minutesandthenremove.Thisactionwillcausethecabinettogointoadownflowalarmcondition.
Theexhaustairflowreadingshouldincreaseduringthistest.However,thedownflowreadingshouldgodown
below25fpm(.13m/
s).Thereshouldalsobeanoticeableincreaseinmotor/blowernoise.Itwouldalsobe
recommendedtomonitormotor/
blowervoltageduringthetest.Themotor/blowervoltageshouldbemonitored
fromwhenthecabinetisrunningnormally.Duringthetest,whenthedownflowsensoriscovered,the
motor/blowervoltageshouldbesteadilyincreasing toslightlyunderlinevoltage.Whenthedownflowsensoris
uncovered,themotor/
blowervoltageshoulddecreaseandairflowreadingsshouldbewithinthecalibrationrange.
Ifthemotor/blowervoltagedoesnotchange,anairflowsensorproblemcouldexist.
