12. Starting and stopping the excavator for maintenance work
When you stop the excavator, the hydraulic system is depressurized and the power supply is interrupted.
Starting the excavator restores the hydraulic pressure and power supply again. If you switch the power supply
on or off, it may cause the position of the hydraulic valves to change. This can result in the H-cylinder moving
uncontrollably when you start or stop the excavator because of residual pressure in the hydraulic system.
When starting and stopping the excavator, you therefore have to ensure that people stay well clear of the
quick coupler.
People must not stand anywhere near the quick coupler or touch it when the excavator is being
stopped or started. There is a danger of uncontrolled movement of the H-cylinder due to residual
pressure in the hydraulic system and altered valve positions.
