  Your Onkyo Stereo Receiver might be turning off unexpectedly because the 'Auto Standby' feature is enabled in the Setup menu. The unit automatically enters standby mode. Alternatively, the protection circuit may have activated due to the unit overheating. Ensure sufficient ventilation around the unit, wait for it to cool down, and then try turning it on again.

  If "AMP Diag Mode" appears on the display of your Onkyo Stereo Receiver when you turn it on, it could indicate that the protection circuit has been activated. To resolve this, set the unit to standby, then reconnect the speaker cables, ensuring no stray wires are sticking out from the speaker terminals. If the issue persists, set the unit to standby immediately, remove the power plug from the outlet, and consult a dealer, as the unit may be malfunctioning.
