3.5 Calculation of
span length
The span length – which is necessary
to calculate the tension precisely –
is often difcult to determine, taking
into account pulleys with differing
pulley diameters. Therefore, the TT 3
offers the possibility of calculating
span length from the values “diameter
pulley 1”, “diameter pulley 2” and
centre distance “a”. This calculation
can be activated in 3 positions via
key 7:
1. TT 3 is ready to measure
(see ch. 3.1).
2. On entering belt parameters for the
selection of Optibelt data
(ch.3.2.1).
3. TT 3 is located in the menu
“free entry” (ch. 3.2.2).
In the rst case, the result is only
shown to the user; in the other 2
cases, it is automatically accepted.

The main menu
All functions and settings are available
via the main menu (key 5):
• belts from ED (“own data bank”)
• belts from OD (“Optibelt data
bank”)
• Delete belts in ED (“own data
bank”) – deletion of individual sets
of data
• Delete ED (“own data bank”)– dele-
tion of the entire “own data bank”
• Menu “Free Entry”
• Calculation of span length
• Key click: on/off
• Communication: data exchange
with PC via serial interface
• Beep time: setting of signal length
