What to do if loudness drops momentarily during HD Radio analog/digital crossfades in Orban Computer Hardware?
    • M
      Mr. Jeffrey MurphyAug 18, 2025
If you experience loudness drops momentarily during HD Radio analog/digital crossfades with your Orban Computer Hardware, it might be because the analog and digital channels in your transmission path have reversed polarity with respect to each other. You can correct this with the HD POLARITY or FM POLARITY controls.

How to fix harsh sibilance (“Ess” Sounds) in the HD Channel of Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5700i Computer Hardware?
    • A
      ashley10Aug 21, 2025
If you notice harsh sibilance (“Ess” Sounds) in the HD Channel of your Orban Computer Hardware, adjust the HD DE-ESS control and/or activate the HD channel’s band 5 compressor.

How to adjust the HD output if it sounds too bright in Orban Computer Hardware?
    • J
      Jeanne ElliottAug 23, 2025
If the HD output of your Orban Computer Hardware sounds too bright, enable adjustment of the HD output’s spectral balance by putting the on-air preset into INDEPENDENT mode.

What to do if talent complains about delay in their headphones with Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5700i Computer Hardware?
    • D
      David OliverAug 26, 2025
If talent complains about delay in their headphones when using Orban Computer Hardware, dedicate an output to low-delay Monitor mode and use this to drive headphones.

Why does audio mute occur when switching between UL and Non-UL Presets in Orban Computer Hardware?
    • L
      lisavelasquezAug 27, 2025
This is normal for Orban Computer Hardware. The audio mute occurs when switching between UL and Non-UL Presets because the DSP code must be reloaded.

What to do if the 19 kHz Frequency is Out-of-Tolerance in Orban Computer Hardware?
    • A
      Amy WellsAug 30, 2025
First, verify that a problem really exists by using a second frequency-measuring device and/or verifying the problem with a monitoring service.

What to do if the system receiving Orban 5700i’s Digital Output Will Not Lock?
    • D
      danielleblancSep 1, 2025
If the system receiving your Orban 5700i’s digital output will not lock, ensure that the 5700i’s output sample rate is set to match the sample rate that the driven system expects. Also, ensure that the 5700i’s output FORMAT (AES3 or SPDIF) is set to match the standard expected by the driven system.

Why does Orban Computer Hardware sound dull?
    • E
      Eric PetersSep 4, 2025
If you are using the Two-Band structure, dull-sounding source material will sound dull on the air. The Five-Band structure will automatically re-equalize such dull-sounding program material to make its spectral balance more consistent with other program material.

    Robert HarrisSep 5, 2025
Why is there a whistle on air, perhaps only in stereo reception, with Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5700i?
    • S
      Steven HatfieldSep 6, 2025
The most likely cause of a whistle on air, perhaps only in stereo reception, when using Orban Computer Hardware is oscillation in the analog input or output circuitry. Check the analog or digital outputs with a spectrum analyzer to see if the spurious tone can be detected here.
  • J
    Jacqueline PruittSep 8, 2025
Why is there audible noise on air with Orban OPTIMOD-FM 5700i?
    • A
      Alexandra RichmondSep 8, 2025
Excessive compression will always exaggerate noise in the source material. The compressor gate freezes the gain of the AGC and compressor systems whenever the input noise drops below a level set by the threshold control for the processing section in question.
