9 Environmental information
cgm.3 is defined as a pressure-sealed hermetic system,
according to IEC 62271-1, which contains sulphur
hexafluoride (SF
6
)

.
SF
6
is included in the Kyoto Protocol list of greenhouse
gases. SF
6
has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 22 200
(TAR, IPCC 2001).
At the end of the product's life, the SF
6
contained in it must
be recovered for processing and recycling, to prevent it
being released into the atmosphere. Extracting and
handling of SF
6
must be carried out by qualified personnel,
using a sealed piercing system.
For the usage and handling of the SF
6
, the indications
listed in IEC 62271-303 must be followed.
The management and treatment of the rest of materials
must be carried out in accordance with the country’s
current legislation.
