Overview

The Osmo HotSpot VX7 is a portable 4G LTE mobile hotspot designed to provide internet connectivity on the go. It allows multiple client devices to connect via Wi-Fi or USB, enabling internet access in various scenarios.

Function Description:

The Osmo HotSpot VX7 serves as a personal Wi-Fi hotspot, converting a cellular data connection (2G, 3G, or 4G LTE) into a Wi-Fi signal that can be shared with other devices such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets. It supports both automatic and manual connection modes to the internet. The device also features a micro-USB port for charging and for connecting directly to a computer via a USB cable, allowing the computer to access the internet through the hotspot. It includes indicator lights to provide visual feedback on battery status, Wi-Fi activity, SMS messages, and network connection status.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Network Compatibility: Supports 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE networks.
  • SIM Card: Requires a micro-SIM card. It does not support standard SIM, nano-SIM, or other non-standard micro-SIM cards, nor card holders, to prevent device damage.
  • Connectivity:
    • Wi-Fi: Allows multiple devices to connect wirelessly.
    • USB: Connects to a computer for internet access and software installation.
  • Power/Charging: Features a charging/micro-USB jack.
  • Antenna: Equipped with external antenna connectors (support may vary by device).
  • Operating Temperatures: Recommended operating temperatures are 0 °C to 35 °C.
  • Storage Temperatures: Recommended storage temperatures are -20 °C to +45 °C.
  • Humidity: Recommended humidity range is between 5% and 95%.

Usage Features:

  • Power On/Off/Restart: The power key allows users to power on/off the device by pressing and holding for approximately 3 seconds. A longer press (about 10 seconds) will restart the device.
  • WPS Functionality: A dedicated WPS key, when pressed and held for 3 seconds, activates the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) function for easy and secure Wi-Fi connections.
  • SIM Card Installation: The device has a micro-SIM card slot, accessible by opening a cover. Users must ensure the correct type of micro-SIM card is used to avoid damage.
  • Wi-Fi Connection:
    1. Turn on the device.
    2. Enable Wi-Fi on the client device and search for available networks.
    3. Select the device's Wi-Fi name (SSID).
    4. Enter the Wi-Fi password (if required).
    5. Wait for the client device to connect successfully.
  • USB Connection:
    1. Connect the device to a computer using a USB cable.
    2. Turn on the device. The operating system should automatically detect and install necessary software. If not, the installation icon can be found in "My Computer."
    3. Wait for the computer to connect successfully.
  • Logging In to Configuration Page:
    1. Ensure an active connection between the device and the client.
    2. Open a web browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 or http://ufi.ztedevice.com in the address bar.
    3. Enter the default password (admin) to access the 4G mobile hotspot configuration page.
  • Changing SSID:
    1. Log in to the configuration page.
    2. Navigate to Wi-Fi settings.
    3. Modify the Network Name (SSID) or password in the main SSID area.
    4. Click "apply" to save changes.
  • Internet Access Modes:
    • Automatic: The device automatically connects to the internet. This is the default mode.
    • Manual: Users can configure the connection mode to manual via the configuration page (Settings > Connection Mode > Manual) and then turn it on.
  • PC Configuration for Internet Access:
    1. Right-click "Network" and select "Properties."
    2. Select "Change adapter settings."
    3. Right-click "Wireless Network Connection" and select "Properties."
    4. Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties."
    5. Select "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically," then click "OK."
  • Indicator Lights:
    • Battery:
      • Red Solid/Blinking: Low battery, requires charging.
      • Green Blinking: Battery is charging.
      • Green Solid: Battery level is middle or high.
      • Lights Off: Device is not charging.
    • Wi-Fi:
      • Blue Blinking: WPS is active.
      • Lights Off: Wi-Fi is off.
    • SMS:
      • Blue Solid: Unread messages.
      • Blue Blinking: New messages.
      • Lights Off: No unread or new messages.
    • Network:
      • Red: Error status (device not registered, no micro-SIM, or no network service).
      • Green Solid: Registered to 2G/3G mobile network.
      • Green Blinking: Connected to 2G/3G mobile network, data being transferred.
      • Blue Solid: Registered to 4G LTE network.
      • Blue Blinking: Connected to 4G LTE network, data being transferred.
