Overview

This document is a service manual for the Panasonic CS-C12EKF CU-C12EKF Air Conditioner, providing comprehensive information for installation, operation, control, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Panasonic CS-C12EKF CU-C12EKF is an air conditioning system designed for cooling and dehumidification. It features a compact design, high efficiency, and a wider range of horizontal discharge air for improved air circulation. The unit incorporates an Air Filter to reduce dust and smoke, and an automatic air swing with manual adjustment for vertical airflow direction, controlled by a remote. A key feature is the Supersonic Air Purifying Device with SUPER alleru-buster, which inactivates harmful airborne elements like allergens, viruses, and bacteria, and uses supersonic waves to enhance dust and dirt collection. The Auto Refresh Deo function regenerates deodorizing performance. The system includes various quality improvements such as random auto restart after power failure, gas leakage protection, prevention of compressor reverse cycle, an inner protector for the compressor, noise prevention during soft dry operation, and a Blue Coated Condenser for high resistance to corrosion. Operation improvements include a quiet mode, a powerful mode for rapid temperature adjustment, and a 24-hour timer setting. For serviceability, the unit features a removable and washable front panel.

Usage Features:

The air conditioner offers various operational modes and controls:

  • Cooling Operation: Sets room temperature between 16°C and 30°C. The compressor cycles on/off based on intake air temperature relative to the setting temperature.
  • Soft Dry Operation: Dehumidifies and provides gentle cooling. It cycles between "ON" (max 10 min) and "OFF" (min 6 min) based on setting temperature.
  • Automatic Operation: Determines the operation mode (Cooling or Soft Dry) based on intake air temperature and adjusts fan speed accordingly.
  • Operation Control: Includes Restart Control (Time Delay Safety Control) to balance refrigerant cycle pressure, 7 Minutes Time Save Control to reduce humidity, 60 Seconds Forced Operation to ensure refrigerant oil circulation, and Starting Current Control to reduce initial current flow.
  • Freeze Prevention Control: Activates when the indoor heat exchanger temperature falls below 2°C for 4 minutes, adjusting fan speed to prevent freezing and liquid refrigerant return to the compressor.
  • Compressor Reverse Rotation Protection Control: Prevents reverse rotation during instantaneous power failure by stopping and restarting the compressor if specific temperature differences are met.
  • Dew Prevention Control: Activated in Cooling or Quiet mode when setting temperature is below 25°C, fan speed is Low or QLo, and room temperature is constant for 30 minutes. It adjusts fan speed and horizontal louver angle to prevent dew formation.
  • Indoor Fan Speed Control: Offers multiple fan speed settings (S Hi, Hi, Me, H Lo, C Lo, Lo-, S Lo, Q Hi, Q Me, Q Lo) and an automatic mode that adjusts speed between Hi and Me.
  • Outdoor Fan Speed Control: Operates at a single speed, starting and stopping simultaneously with the compressor.
  • Vertical Airflow Direction Control: Allows auto-swing or manual adjustment of the louver position.
  • Horizontal Airflow Direction Control: Louvers can be adjusted manually.
  • Powerful Operation: Quickly reaches desired room temperature by automatically decreasing the setting temperature by 3°C and running at SHi fan speed (Cooling) or Lo- fan speed (Soft Dry). Vertical airflow direction is also adjusted.
  • Quiet Operation: Reduces noise level by adjusting fan speed and compressor operation.
  • Timer Control (ON/OFF): Allows scheduling of unit operation. The ON Timer starts slightly before the set time, while the OFF Timer stops the unit at the desired time.
  • Random Auto Restart Control: Automatically restarts the unit with previous settings after a power failure.
  • Remote Control Signal Receiving Sound: Provides audible feedback for various operations.
  • Service Mode: Accessible via the "Auto OFF/ON Button" for forced cooling, remote control transmission code selection, and toggling remote control signal receiving sound. Remote control buttons also allow setting clock, resetting to factory defaults, and changing temperature display units.

Maintenance Features:

The manual provides detailed instructions for installation and servicing, emphasizing safety precautions.

  • Installation: Includes guidelines for selecting the best location for both indoor and outdoor units, drilling holes, connecting piping and electrical cables, and insulating pipes.
  • Refrigeration Cycle Diagram: Illustrates the flow of refrigerant and location of sensors.
  • Block Diagram: Provides an overview of the electronic control system.
