Overview

This document describes the Panasonic Fully Automatic Washing Machine, models NA-FS16X3, NA-F150A3, and NA-F130A3, designed for markets in UAE (Local/Export), Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The manual provides comprehensive information on installation, operation, and maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient use of the appliance.

Function Description

The Panasonic Fully Automatic Washing Machine is designed to automate the laundry process, offering various wash programs and features to cater to different fabric types and soil levels. It includes a pulsator for agitation, a spin tub for water extraction, and multiple water supply valves for cold and, in some models, hot water. The machine is equipped with an electronic controller that manages the wash, rinse, and spin cycles, as well as safety features like a safety switch and an MR sensor for unbalance detection.

Key functional components include:

  • Operation Panel: The user interface for selecting programs, adjusting settings, and monitoring the wash cycle.
  • Detergent Inlet and Softener Case: Dedicated compartments for dispensing detergent and fabric softener at appropriate times during the wash.
  • Lint Filter: Collects lint and debris from the wash water, preventing them from redepositing on clothes.
  • Water Supply Valves: Control the inflow of cold and hot water into the tub. Models for Saudi Arabia feature both cold and hot water inlets, while Middle East models typically have a single cold water inlet.
  • Drain Hose: Facilitates the removal of wastewater from the machine.
  • Adjustable Legs: Allow for leveling the machine on uneven surfaces, crucial for stable operation.
  • Pulsator: Creates water currents to agitate clothes during the wash cycle.
  • Spin Tub: Rotates at high speeds to extract water from clothes during the spin cycle.
  • ECONAVI Function: Available in the Normal program, this feature automatically adjusts operation time and water level based on the detected amount of laundry and water temperature, optimizing energy and water consumption.

The machine offers a range of programs including Normal, Energy Save (Speedy), Water Save, Baby-care, Fragrance, Blanket, Power Wash + Soak, Gentle Hand Wash, and Tub Hygiene. An Air Dry function is also available for certain models.

Usage Features

The washing machine is designed for user-friendly operation with a clear control panel and intuitive settings.

Installation: Proper installation is critical for optimal performance and safety.

  1. Location Check: Avoid locations with freezing temperatures, dampness, direct sunlight, or uneven/unstable surfaces.
  2. Bottom Cover Attachment: Insert and secure the bottom cover with screws to protect internal components.
  3. Drain Hose Connection: Connect the external drain hose, ensuring it is securely hooked to a basin or drain pipe between 80-120 cm high. Avoid twisting, pulling, bending, or submerging the hose tip.
  4. Water Tap Adaptor and Supply Hose Connection:
    • For Middle East models, connect the water tap adaptor to the faucet by loosening screws, attaching to the faucet, and tightening securely. Then, connect the water supply hose to the adaptor.
    • For Saudi Arabia models, connect the water supply hose to the water supply valve screw, ensuring correct connections for hot and cold water if applicable. Tighten all nuts firmly.
  5. Power Plug and Grounding Wire: Connect the power plug and ensure proper grounding by a service person.
  6. Leveling: Use the adjustable legs to ensure the machine is level, indicated by the bubble in the center of the mark on the leveller.
  7. Trial Operation: Perform a trial run to check for water leakage, abnormal sounds, or error displays.

Operation:

  1. Power On: Press the "Off/On" button. The Normal program is typically selected by default.
  2. Program Selection: Choose a desired program from the operation panel.
  3. Start: Press "Start/Pause." The pulsator will move to measure laundry, and the water level will be indicated.
  4. Detergent: Add detergent according to the water level indication. Water supply will begin shortly after.
  5. Close Lid: Ensure the lid is closed for operation.

Key Operational Features:

  • Change Water Level: During the wash process, the water level can be adjusted by pressing "Water Level." Some levels may not be selectable depending on the program.
  • Water Level/Remaining Time Display: The panel displays the water level based on laundry amount and the approximate remaining time in minutes.
  • Water Level/Water Amounts: Provides guidance on detergent scoops and water volume for different water levels (High, Mid, Low, Extra Low).
  • Change Process Settings: Users can customize the combination of wash, rinse, and spin processes, and their time lengths or number of times. This can only be done during the wash process by pressing "Start/Pause."
  • Preset (Timer): Set a time for the wash to finish, ranging from 2 to 24 hours later (with specific ranges for Power Wash + Soak). This feature is not available for all programs.
  • Fragrance Program: For this program, the machine pauses before the final rinse and beeps, allowing the user to add diluted fabric softener directly into the tub.
  • Temp Setting (Saudi Arabia Models): For models with hot water supply, users can select Hot, Warm, or Cold water for washing. It is crucial not to use water hotter than 60°C.
  • Child Lock: A safety feature that prevents accidental operation by children.
  • Auto Restart: In case of a power failure, the machine resumes operation from where it stopped once power is restored.
  • Auto Power Off: The machine automatically turns off if "Start/Pause" is not pressed within 10 minutes after power-on.

Specific Programs:

  • Blanket Program: For washable blankets (100% synthetic fiber or cotton, up to 4.2 kg). Blankets should be placed in a net with the zipper facing up to prevent damage.
  • Gentle Hand Wash: For delicate clothes. Requires attaching a washing board inside the tub. Use liquid delicate detergent and avoid bleach.
  • ECONAVI: Available in the Normal program, this function automatically adjusts operation time and water level based on detected laundry amount and water temperature, optimizing energy and water consumption.

Maintenance Features

The manual emphasizes several aspects of maintenance, primarily through proper usage and component care, to ensure the longevity and efficient functioning of the washing machine.

General Care:

  • Lint Filter: While not explicitly detailed as a maintenance step, the presence of a lint filter implies regular cleaning is necessary to maintain its effectiveness and prevent lint from redepositing on clothes.
  • Hose Care: The installation instructions stress the importance of not twisting, pulling, or bending the drain hose, and ensuring it is securely hooked. This prevents blockages and leaks, which are critical for proper drainage.
  • Water Supply: Turning on the water faucet before operation is a basic but essential step to ensure the machine receives adequate water.
  • Grounding: Connecting the power plug and grounding wire by a service person is a safety maintenance measure to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Cleaning: Although not explicitly detailed, the mention of detergent and softener cases suggests these compartments should be kept clean to prevent residue buildup and ensure proper dispensing.
  • Post-Operation: For the Gentle Hand Wash program, it is advised to take out clothes immediately after operation ends to prevent wrinkles and color staining, which indirectly contributes to fabric care and machine cleanliness.

Safety and Component Integrity:

  • Important Safety Notice: The manual highlights that components marked with a special symbol are critical for safety. When replacing these parts, only manufacturer-specified parts should be used to prevent shock, fire, or other hazards. This is a crucial maintenance directive for technicians.
  • No Modification: Users are warned not to modify the original design of the appliance without manufacturer permission, as this could compromise safety and performance.
  • Professional Service: The service information is designed for experienced repair technicians, emphasizing that servicing or repairing the product should only be done by professionals to avoid serious injury or death. This underscores that complex maintenance and repairs are not for the general public.

While the manual does not provide a dedicated "Maintenance" section with step-by-step cleaning or troubleshooting for users, it embeds maintenance considerations within the installation and usage instructions, focusing on preventive measures and the importance of professional intervention for critical repairs.
