Overview

This document provides operating and installation instructions for the Panasonic Fully Automatic Washing Machine, models NA-FS16X3 and NA-FS14X3, designed for domestic use. It covers safety precautions, part names, operation panel details, various programs, detergent usage, washing options, convenient functions, maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and error displays.

Function Description

The Panasonic Fully Automatic Washing Machine is designed to efficiently clean textiles labeled as washing machine washable. It offers a range of programs to suit different laundry needs, from everyday clothes to delicate items and comforters. The machine features an automatic water level adjustment based on laundry amount and water temperature, especially when the ECONAVI function is enabled in the Normal program. It can perform wash, rinse, and spin processes, with options to customize these stages. The appliance also includes an "Air Dry" function for drying synthetic fiber clothes by blowing air from the tub rotation.

Usage Features

General Operation:

To start, load laundry, turn on the power, select a program from the operation panel, add detergent, and close the lid. The machine will then measure the laundry amount and indicate the water amount before starting the wash cycle. The operation panel displays the remaining time and water amount.

Programs:

  • Normal: For daily washing of everyday clothes.
  • Energy Save (Speedy): For speedy washing of lightly soiled clothes, reducing power consumption by 5% compared to the Normal program.
  • Water Save: Designed to save water. For thorough rinsing, it's recommended to use the Normal or Baby-care program.
  • Baby-care: For rinsing clothes thoroughly, suitable for babies and people with sensitive skin.
  • Fragrance: For using extra softener, providing a stronger scent.
  • Comforter: Specifically for washing comforters and blankets made of 100% synthetic fiber or 100% cotton, weighing 4.2 kg or less, and having a machine-washable tag. Comforters should be placed in a net with the zipper facing up. Liquid detergent is recommended for this program.
  • Power wash + Soak: For heavily soiled clothes, involving presoaking followed by powerful swirling water washing.
  • Gentle Hand Wash: For gently washing delicate clothes and stylish garments. This program requires attaching a washing board to the tub. Laundry should be loaded evenly, and laundry nets are recommended for delicate underwear. Liquid delicate detergent should be used, and bleach is not recommended. Clothes should be removed immediately after operation to prevent wrinkles and color staining.
  • Air Dry: For drying synthetic fiber clothes (up to 3.0 kg) by air. The total time for this program is approximately 90 minutes.
  • Tub Hygiene: For preventing black mold and smell, or when black mold or smell is present in the tub.

Water Level and Detergent:

The water amount can be changed during the wash process by pressing "Water Level." The machine displays the water amount and approximate remaining time. Detergent, bleach, and softener should be added according to the water amount displayed and the instructions on their respective packages. Detergent should not be put directly into the tub to prevent it from remaining undissolved. Softener is automatically released during the final rinse. For concentrated softener, dilute it with water before adding.

Washing Options:

The machine allows for customization of wash, rinse, and spin processes, including time length or number of times for individual processes. These settings can be changed after starting operation by pressing "Start/Pause."

Convenient Functions:

  • Cancelling End Buzzer: The end buzzer can be turned off or on by pressing and holding the "Off/On" button for 3 seconds.
  • Child Lock: This function sounds a buzzer if the lid is opened during operation to prevent children from falling into the tub. If the lid is not closed within 10 seconds, the water will be flushed out. This function does not lock the lid or button operations.
  • Turning the Tub by Hand: If it's difficult to reach the detergent inlet, the tub can be turned clockwise by hand when the power is off and no water is in the tub.

Laundry Preparation:

  • Color-Losing Clothes: Wash separately.
  • Pre-laundry Check: Remove coins, pins, paper clips, nails, etc. Fasten buttons and close zippers. Do not wash non-laundry items. Reverse clothes likely to pill. Remove pet and human hair, sand, etc. Tie strings.
  • Delicate Underwear: Use laundry nets for underwire brassieres, lacy clothes, lingerie, and stockings. Do not overpack nets. Put the zipper's slider into the cover to prevent damage. Do not use the Air Dry program for delicate underwear in nets.

Maintenance Features

Lint Filter:

The lint filter should be cleaned after each operation. To clean, remove the filter, open it, remove lint, and if lint is difficult to remove, soak and wash the filter in water. Then, reattach the filter in its original position. Do not wash laundry without the filter.

Water Supply Filter:

If water does not flow smoothly, the water supply filter may be clogged. To clean, turn off the water faucet, turn off the power, wait approximately 40 seconds, loosen the nut, remove the hose, remove the filter, and clean any dirt.

Tub Cleaning:

  • Weekly Air Dry: Run the "Air Dry" program without loading laundry once a week after operation ends.
  • Monthly Tub Hygiene: Once a month, run the "Tub Hygiene" program. Turn on the water faucet, turn on the power, select "Tub Hygiene," press start, and when the tub is filled with water, pause the operation to add approximately 200 ml of chlorine bleach. After closing the lid and resuming, the tub cleaning will end after approximately 2.5 hours.

Main Unit and Lid:

Wipe any stains from detergent or softener with a soft cloth. For heavy soil, use a neutral kitchen detergent. Avoid splashing water.

Softener Case:

The softener case can be removed and washed with water. To remove, pull the case all the way out, then pull it obliquely upward.
