Defrosting Foods Using Defrost Power & Time
The times given below are a guideline only. Always check the progress of the food by opening the
oven door and then re-starting. For larger quantities adjust times accordingly. Food should not be
covered during defrosting.
Meat Method Standing
Time
Beef/Lamb/Pork 7-9 Place in a suitable dish or on an upturned 60 mins.
Joint 450g (1lb) mins. saucer or use a rack. Turn 3-4 times. Shield.
Minced Beef 8 Place in a suitable dish. 15 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Break up and turn 3-4 times.
Chops 7 Place in a suitable dish in a single layer. 15 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Turn twice. Shield if necessary.
Sausages 4-5 Place in a suitable dish in a single layer. 15 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Turn twice. Shield if necessary.
Bacon 8-9 Place in a suitable dish. Turn and

Stewing Steak 7-8 Place in a suitable dish. 15 mins.

Whole 7-8 Place in a suitable dish. Turn twice. Shield. 15 mins.

Fillets/Steak 7-8 Place in a suitable dish. 15 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Turn twice, separate if necessary.
Prawns 8 Place in a suitable dish. 10 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Stir twice during defrosting.
General
Bread Sliced 2 Place on the turntable. 10 mins.
400g (14oz) mins. Separate and rearrange during defrosting.
Slice of bread 20 Place on the turntable on 1-2 mins.
30g (1oz) sec. a piece of kitchen paper.
Pastry 4 Place on a plate. Turn over half way. 10-15 mins.
450g (1lb) mins.
Soft Fruit 6-7 Place in a suitable dish. 10 mins.
450g (1lb) mins. Stir twice during defrosting.
