5.7 Measuring Frequency
Warning!
Do not try to measure the frequency of a signal that exceeds 250
V AC
rms
, it may damage your meter and expose yourself to a
severe shock hazard.
Follow these steps to measure the frequency of a signal:
1. Set the rotary selector (10) to Hz/DUTY position.
2. Plug the black test lead into the meter’s COM terminal and the
red test lead into the V/Ω terminal.
3. Connect the test leads to the frequency source. It will
automatically select and display appropriate frequencies
ranges up to 220 MHz.
4. The unit shows the value on the display.
Warning!
When the test leads are connected to an AC outlet, do not turn
the rotary selector to another range. It might damage the internal
components or cause bodily harm.
Notes:
* For the most accurate measurements, we strongly recommend
you to use a BNC cable with ferrite core.
