4.2 Calibration of the pH meter
Calibrating the pH meter is recommended when accurate readings
are needed, the instrument has not been used for a long time, or
when the instrument has been used for a long period of time.
To calibrate the instrument, two buffer solutions are needed, which
have a pH of 4.01 and 7.01 at room temperature.
To calibrate the respective areas, remove the protective cap from
the probe, place the appropriate buffer solution for the desired area
to be calibrated in a container, and immerse the bottom 4 cm of the
probe in the buffer solution.
Now move the pH meter carefully and slowly in the solution for a
few seconds. After a short time, the device settles down to a
measured value. When this is done, the value can be set to exactly
4.01 or 7.01 with the calibration screws (depending on the buffer
solution used).
After the calibration is done, clean the probe with distilled water and
dry the probe with a cloth.
