Overview

The IPA™ 150T is a high-performance utility amplifier designed for demanding fixed installation and PA applications. Its convenient patch panel layout and state-of-the-art circuit design ensure reliable long-term operation and trouble-free installation. The unit provides twenty-five and seventy-volt fully isolated line output capability as standard equipment. Packaged for standard 19" rack-mount capability with an optional rack-mount kit, it occupies only two vertical rack spaces.

Key Features:

  • Power Output: 150 Watts RMS into 4 ohms.
  • Controls and Indicators: Includes a Level control, Subsonic filter switch, Power on LED, and Power switch.
  • Outputs: Features a 4 ohm screw terminal direct output, 8 ohm balanced output, 25 volt balanced output, 70 volt balanced output, 1V/600 ohm balanced output, and an AC convenience outlet.

Technical Specifications:

  • Rated Power & Load:
    • Direct Output: 150W RMS @ 4 ohms
    • Transformer Output (Fully Isolated): 150W RMS @ 4 ohms (25V)/33 ohms (70V)
  • Distortion: 0.5% THD @ rated power
  • Frequency Response: Direct Output: +0/-1 dB from 40 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Hum & Noise: Greater than 95 dB below rated power
  • Input Sensitivity: 0.87V RMS
  • Subsonic Filter: Provides an 18 dB per octave roll-off of low frequencies with a 3 dB point at 42 Hz.

Usage Features:

  • Level Control (1): Adjusts the overall volume level of the system.
  • Subsonic Filter (2): The "in" position activates an 18 dB/octave subsonic filter at 42 Hz, while the "out" position bypasses it.
  • Power On LED (3): Illuminates when AC power is supplied to the unit.
  • Power Switch (4): Depress to "on" to power up the unit.
  • Line Inputs (5): Configured for both balanced and unbalanced signals.
  • External Master Volume (6): Terminals for connecting an external volume control. For full external control, the front panel "level" control must be set to maximum.
  • RCA Input Jack (7): Paralleled with other inputs.
  • 1/4" Input Jack (8): Allows balanced operation (RTS).
  • Outputs (9): Provides direct and transformer outputs for proper interface with speaker systems. The direct output connects to a 4 ohm speaker system (requires disconnecting the jumper between 4 ohm and XFMR terminals). For 8 ohm, 25 volt, and 70 volt balanced outputs, the jumper between 4 ohm and XFMR must be installed. The 8 ohm output connects between COM and 8 ohm terminals. 25V and 70V balanced outputs are for "constant voltage" speaker distribution systems, connecting between COM and either 25V or 70V terminals. A balanced, transformer-isolated line level output (1V RMS into 600 ohm) is also provided for "music on hold" systems or booster power amplifiers.

Installation Information:

  • Power Handling and Grounding: The unit includes a 3-wire line (mains) cable with proper grounding. It is not advisable to remove the ground pin. If grounding facilities are unavailable, suitable grounding adaptors should be used.
  • Installing Rack-Mount Ears: Optional rack-mount ears can be attached by removing the three screws on the front sides of the unit, aligning the ears with the rack-mount flange, and replacing the screws. The unit then mounts in a standard 2-space 19" rack. Rubber feet can be removed for rack-mount installations. Rack-mount ears can also secure the unit in a shelf application.
  • Rack-Mount Recommendation: To ensure adequate ventilation, leave at least one rack space between units when multiple amplifiers are mounted in the same rack.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Metal parts can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Vinyl covering on some units can be cleaned with a damp cloth or a mild household cleaner if necessary.
  • Service: If the power supply cord or plug is damaged, anything has fallen or been spilled into the unit, the unit does not operate correctly, or the unit has been dropped or the enclosure damaged, it should be checked by a qualified service technician. The user should not attempt to service this equipment; all service work should be done by a qualified service technician.
  • Safety Precautions: Read all safety and operating instructions. Do not use near water or heat sources. Ensure proper ventilation. Do not break off the ground pin on the power supply cord. Handle power supply cords carefully and check for damage periodically. Unplug the power supply cord when the unit is unused for long periods. If mounted in an equipment rack, rear support should be provided.
  • Hearing Protection: Exposure to extremely high noise levels can cause permanent hearing loss. Ear plugs or protectors must be worn when operating this amplification system to prevent permanent hearing loss if exposure exceeds permissible limits.
