6.1.8 Spontaneous / pressure support ventilation (SPONT/PSV)
6.1.8.1 Description
Spontaneous/pressure support ventlaton mode (SPONT/PSV) s an
auxlary breathng mode
When the patent’s spontaneous nspraton reaches the preset trgger
level, the ventlator begns to delver gas and Paw rses to the preset
Psupp rapdly The ventlator then reduces the flow to keep Paw constant
When the nspraton flow drops to the preset level, the ventlator stops
delverng gas and the patent s allowed to expre, and the ventlator
wats for the next nspraton trgger
If nspraton s not trggered wthn the set tme (Backup Mode Actve),
the system automatcally swtches to the backup ventlaton mode
(Volume or Pressure) The backup mode should be selected n advance
In SPONT/PSV mode, VT does not need to be set VT depends on the
patent’s nspratory force and pressure support level, and complance
and resstance of the patent and breathng system
PSV mode s used only when the patent s breathng spontaneously
When PSV mode s appled alone, PV and VV backup modes are
avalable If wthn the preset tme (Backup Mode Actve), no spontaneous
breathng occurs or spontaneous breathng s not strong enough to reach
the Trgger Level, backup mode ventlaton s trggered automatcally
when the tme perod for Backup Mode Actve ends
If an apnea situation occurs, and there is no spontaneous breathing,
or spontaneous breathing and an inspiratory trigger condition is
not reached, the system in accordance with the set ‘Apnea time’,
automatically enters a backup ventilation mode.
