5.8 Vaporizers
5.8.1 Vaporizer back pressure test
WARNIN
1 Use only Selectatec-compatble nterlock vaporzers
heck that each vaporzer s securely mounted - refer to
Secton 516
2 The machne must be connected to an anaesthetc gas
scavengng system (ASS)
1 onnect the patent y-pece to the test lung
2 Fll the bellows
3 Use the start/standby button to start operatonal mode
4 Set the alternate O button to the ON poston
5 heck that the button s llumnated
6 Turn the alternate O flow to approxmately 6 L/mn
7 heck that the O flow stays constant
8 Set a vaporzer concentraton of 1%
AUTION
Do not test the vaporzer when the vaporzer
concentraton control s between “0” and the frst
graduaton
9 heck that the alternate O flow does not decrease more
than 1 L/mn
10 If the vaporzer fals ths test
a) Install a dfferent vaporzer and repeat the test
b) If the problem perssts, do not use the system
ontact a Penlon-traned techncan
11 Repeat the back pressure test for each vaporzer and
backbar manfold staton
12 Set the alternate O button to the OFF poston
13 heck that the alternate O button s no longer
llumnated
5.8.2 Vaporizer interlock system test
1 Ft two vaporzers (wth nterlock)
2 Make sure that the nterlock mechansm of each vaporzer
s workng correctly
a) heck that only one vaporzer at a tme can be turned
on
b) Refer to the vaporzer user manual for addtonal
pre-use checks
