NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY
Operating instructions may be different depending on the make and model of vehicle you have.
1. Vehicle must be off and parked on a flat level surface.
2. Properly raise vehicle and remove the wheel.
3. Loosen jam nut on outer tie rod before it’s removed from the steering knuckle.
4. Remove outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
5. Turn outer tie rod counterclockwise removing it from the inner tie rod.
NOTE: Count the turns so it can be re-installed in the same position. It is advisable to measure
the position as well, this will get it close enough to be able to drive the vehicle to a professional
alignment shop.
6. Remove clamps holding inner boot on, remove boot. Look for pin or rivet near the end of the tie
rod. This needs to be removed before you can attempt removing the tie rod.
7. Select proper adapter to fit the inner tie rod flats. Slide tool over inner tie rod and engage tabs.
8. Use a 1/2 in. ratchet or breaker bar to remove the inner tie rod.
NOTE: DO NOT use power tools, this product was designed for hand use only.
9. Install new inner tie rod with a small amount of a thread locking compound on rod to lock
threads.
10. Re-install boot using new clamps to secure both ends of boot.
11. Thread outer tie rod on using the count and measurement from step 5, then tighten jam nut.
12. Install outer tie rod back into steering knuckle, torque to factory specifications. Replace the
cotter pin with a new one.
13. Have a professional alignment shop check and adjust the alignment.
14. Clean and inspect tool for damage, do not use damaged equipment. Store in blow molded case.
