Step 3: VCR mode setup - use the flowchart
(fig. 4) on page 54
Manual VCR code entry
a Press Yes to setup the RC 8510 for your VCR, press
No to skip the setup for VCR. Now proceed with step
4 SAT MODE SETUP.
b Turn on the VCR for code testing. This display will
stay on for 2 seconds.
c Press Yes to enter a code from the brand code list in
the manual, Press No to search for your device code
and proceed with step 3g: VCR CODE SEARCH.
d Enter the 4 digit device code by means of the
numerical keys (0-9).
Note: You can only enter a VCR code. VCR brand
codes can be found in the brand code list on page.40.
e Press the Standby key to test if the code is correct.
Your VCR should go Standby.
Note: |t is possible to test another key than the
Standby key. For example, press the STOP or the
PLAY key to test if the code you entered can contro!
the VCR functions. You can only press one single key
to test.
f |f the code you entered is correct, press Yes. Now
proceed with step 4. If the code is not working, press
No and return to step 3e.
VCR code search
g Press Yes to search for a VCR code, press No to
return to step 3e.
ht Make sure the VCR is ON and press the Standby key.
The 4 digit code number on the display changes and
the RC will transmit a Standby signa! to test if the
code is correct. If the code is correct, the VCR should
go Standby.
i Release the Standby-key. If the VCR reacts, press
other keys to test the correct of the code. If the code
is correct, press SET. Now proceed with step 37. If
the code is not working, go to step 3h.
Note: You can test other keys than the Standby key
to verify that the code is correct. For example, to test
if the code you entered can control Play or Stop
functions, press the Play or the Stop button.
You can press all keys to test except the Standby,
Mute, Set and SHIFT-keys.
The Mute-key decreases the code number by 10. You
can use this key to test a previous code.
j The display indicates that the VCR code is stored.
Now proceed with step 4: SAT MODE SETUP.
Steps 4 and 5: Setup SAT & CABLE
Setup for SAT and AUX modes will take the same steps
as for TV or for VCR. Follow the instructions of step 3,
read SAT or CTV instead of VCR. After step g: you are
asked for which device you want to search the correct
code. (fig 5). Use UP/Down to select the device, press
YES to continue. Under SAT and AUX you can also
manually store a second TV or VCR code, for
example if you need a second TV code to operate
teletext. Look in the TV or VCR brand code list for
the correct code.
NORMAL OPERATION
Normal functions
Once you have set up the RC 8510 for your equipment,
it works just like your original remote controls.
