- TUNE+ (4. ): Increases FM frequency by 0.1MHz with a single press; long press initiates a semi-automatic search for radio stations. In USB/SD/BT mode, it plays the next song.
- VOL- (5.): Decreases volume.
- VOL+ (6.): Increases volume.
Remote Control Operation:
- Power (1. U): Turns on/Stand-by the speaker.
- Mute (2.): Activates or deactivates mute.

Bluetooth Operating Instruction:
- Press the SOURCE key (front panel or remote) to enter Bluetooth mode.
- The display will show "bt" blinking/flashing.
- Search for "SPA8180B" on your mobile or other Bluetooth device and pair. "bt" will stop blinking once paired.

Note: During a phone call, the speaker system mutes to protect privacy and resumes operation once the call is disconnected.
Speaker Positioning:
- Subwoofer: Recommended on the floor for better acoustic effect.
- All speakers (except subwoofer): Should be placed at the same distance from the listening position for optimal surround sound.
- Front Left and Right Speakers: Place at equal distances from the TV, at an angle of approximately 45 degrees (horizontal) from the listening position.
- Centre Speaker: Place above the TV to localize the centre channel's sound.
- Surround Speakers: Place at normal listening ear level, facing each other or mounted on the wall.
- Helpful Hint: Avoid positioning speakers too close to the TV to prevent magnetic interference.
Connections:
The back panel of the subwoofer includes inputs for FM Antenna, TV, DVD, and Mobile Phone (Audio). It also has outputs for the four satellite speakers (FR, RR, RL, FL), a Mains Cord connection, and a Power On Switch. The top panel features USB and SD card slots.
Maintenance Features
- Avoid high temperatures, moisture, water, and dust: The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids. Do not place liquid-filled objects or lighted candles on the subwoofer or satellites. Do not install near heat sources.
- Do not block any ventilation opening: Place the apparatus in a location with adequate ventilation, allowing at least 10cm (4 inches) of free space around it. The back cover of the subwoofer can become hot at high volumes, so avoid touching it.
- Care of the cabinet: Use a soft cloth slightly moistened to clean the cabinet. Do not use solutions containing alcohol, spirits, ammonia, or abrasives.
Safety Instructions:
- Read the safety mark on the back side carefully.
- Avoid sustained high-volume use, especially with high output signals (e.g., mobile phone, DVD), as this can cause distortion and damage loudspeaker cones.
- Switch off the system from the wall socket when not in use.
- Do not open the cover or back panel to avoid electrical shock; there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- For indoor use only.
- Plug the system into an AC outlet with the correct voltage marked on the back panel of the subwoofer.
- The MAINS plug serves as the disconnect device and should remain readily operable.
- The product should not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no objects filled with liquids (like vases) should be placed on it.
- Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat (sunshine, fire, etc.).
- Pay attention to environmental aspects of battery disposal.
Troubleshooting:
The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues:
- No power: Check AC power cord insertion.
- No sound or distorted sound: Adjust volume, select correct source.
- Remote control not functioning: Reduce distance, replace batteries, point directly at IR sensor, check battery loading, restart system.
- Low hum or buzz sound: Place product away from electrical devices causing interference, check power supply voltage.
- USB/SD flash drive content not readable: Drive format may not be compatible (e.g., NTFS).
- Slow USB/SD operation or not detected: Large file size may cause slow reading; reinsert drive.
- FM not properly tuned: Match with local frequency.
- Poor FM reception: Turn off TV/DVD or other radiation sources.
- Bluetooth not working: Reduce distance or ensure device is paired.
For issues not resolved by these steps, contact a PHILIPS service center or customer care.
