Using a Phonak Roger Pen
PLEASE:
Ensure the Roger Pen is a hand span's distance from your mouth. If you
are using the attached lanyard, allow it to rest on your chest.
Ensure the microphone is facing away from you and not against your
body.
Speak using your normal pace and volume. You do not need to speak
slowly or raise your voice.
Check that the user can hear you clearly before starting a lesson.
Mute and/or remove the Roger Pen if you are having a private
conversation or working with another group. (see below purple light)
Return the Roger Pen to the user for small group tasks- place in the
middle of the group. The surround microphone will pick up sounds
from the group.
AVOID:
Waving the Roger Pen around as you are speaking. Whooshes of air will
prevent the user from hearing your voice clearly.
Wearing scarves, lanyards or long necklaces which might knock or
scrape against the Roger Pen. These items will create additional noises
which will prevent the user from hearing your voice clearly.
