Stopping playback
• Touch •.
• When you stop Video CD playback (during
PBC playback only) by touching ., that location
on the disc is memorized, enabling playback
from that point when you play the disc again.
• To play back the disc again, touch ~/II. [!)
Pausing Video CD playback
Pause lets you temporarily stop disc playback.
• Touch ~/II during playback.
The icon II is displayed and playback is
paused, letting you view a still image.
• To resume playback at the same point that you
turned pause on, touch ~/II again.
o Note
Depending on the disc and the playback location
on the disc, the icon \9 may be displayed. indicat-
ing that still playback is not possible.[!)
Frame-by-frame playback
This lets you move ahead one frame at a time
during playback.
• Touch II~ during playback.
Each time you touch II~, you move ahead one
frame.
• To return to normal playback, touch ~/II.

• Depending on the disc and the playback loca-
tion on the disc, the icon (9 may be displayed,
indicating that frame-by-frame playback is not
possible.
• With some discs, images may be unclear dur-

Slow motion playback
This lets you slow down playback speed.
1 Keep touching II~ untilllll~ is displayed
during playback.
The icon IIII~ is displayed, forward slow mo-
tion playback begins.
• To return to normal playback, touch ~/II.
2 Touch ~II or II~ to adjust playback
speed during slow motion playback.
Each time you touch ~II or II~ it changes the
speed in four steps in the following order:
1/16--1/8--1/4--1/2

• There is no sound during slow motion play-
back.
• Depending on the disc and the playback loca-
tion on the disc, the icon (9 may be displayed,
indicating that slow motion playback is not
possible.
• With some discs, images may be unclear dur-
ing slow motion playback.
• Reverse slow motion playback is not possi-
ble.[!)
Searching for a desired
scene, starting playback
from a specified time
You can use the search function to search for
a desired scene by specifying a track, and the
time search function to specify the time on a
disc at which play starts.
• During playback of Video CDs featuring
PBC (playback control), this function can-
not be operated.
• Time search is not possible when disc play-
back has been stopped.
