What to do if my Pit Boss PB340 shows “ErH” Error Message?
    • A
      Arthur FordAug 16, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill displays an “ErH” error message, it indicates that the grill has overheated, possibly due to a grease fire or excess fuel. To resolve this, turn the grill OFF and allow it to cool down. Clean the grill interior, remove any excess pellets, and ensure all component parts are correctly positioned. To clear the error, turn the Temperature Dial to OFF, OPEN the lid, wait 3 or 4 minutes, and then select your desired temperature.

Why is my Pit Boss PB340 Grill displaying an unexpected temperature?
    • M
      Michelle MoyerAug 19, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill is displaying an unexpected temperature, especially when exposed to high ambient temperatures and direct sunlight, it means the interior temperature has reached or exceeded 130°F. This will not harm the unit. To mitigate this, place the grill in a shaded area and prop the lid open to help reduce the inside temperature.

Why does my Pit Boss PB340 produce excess or discolored smoke?
    • M
      mbennettAug 22, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill produces excess or discolored smoke, it may be due to excess grease build-up, wood pellet quality or build-up of fuel in the burn pot. Regularly check and clean the interior grilling area, and perform a controlled burn off of excess grease after cooking greasy foods. Also, check and clear the hopper and burn pot of moist pellets, replacing them with fresh, dry pellets. Ensure there is no excessive fuel build-up in the burn pot.

How to fix Pit Boss Grill LCD screen that will not light up?
    • R
      rmitchellAug 26, 2025
If the LCD screen on your Pit Boss Grill won't light up, first ensure the Temperature Dial is in the OFF position. Then, check that all wire connections are firmly connected and that the grill is plugged into a working GFCI outlet. If the issue persists, the circuit board fuse (5 amp) may have tripped and needs replacement, or the GFI outlet itself may have tripped. For the latter, ensure wire connections are dry, the GFCI is minimum 15 amp service, and you're not using an extension cord longer than 25 feet.

Why my Pit Boss PB340 will not start?
    • M
      Melissa RodriguezAug 28, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill won't start, first ensure it's properly plugged in and that the electrical outlet is working. Check and reset the Ground Fault Interrupter if needed. If the igniter isn't working, inspect the 5 amp fuse on the back of the control and replace it if necessary. Also, make sure the Temperature Dial is in the OFF position before turning it to SMOKE to light up the LCD screen. If these steps don't work, inspect the igniter and auger feed, and if necessary, contact Customer Service for replacement parts.

What does “ErP” Error Message mean on my Pit Boss PB340 Grill?
    • M
      Melissa MartinAug 31, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill displays an “ErP” error message, it could be because the Temperature Dial was not in the OFF position when the grill was connected to AC power, or a power outage occurred while the grill was operating. To resolve this, turn the Temperature Dial to OFF, wait 2 minutes, and then select your desired temperature. This safety feature prevents an inadvertent start.

Why does my Pit Boss PB340 Grill have frequent flare-ups?
    • R
      ramosbrianSep 3, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill is experiencing frequent flare-ups, it is likely due to the cooking temperature being too high. Grease has a flash point, so keep the temperature under 350°F when cooking highly greasy food. Slow and low temperature is the way to go.
