What do the flashing dots on my Pit Boss PB820FB Grill LCD screen mean?
    • L
      Lance Gray Jr.Sep 16, 2025
If the LCD screen on your Pit Boss Grill is showing flashing dots, it simply indicates that the unit is in Start-Up mode and the igniter is ON. This is not an error. The igniter will turn off after five minutes, and once the flashing dots disappear, the grill will begin operating at the desired temperature.

What does "ErP" error code mean on my Pit Boss PB820FB?
    • B
      Bonnie JordanAug 25, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill displays the "ErP" error code, it might be because the unit wasn't turned off properly when last connected to power, or there was a power outage while the unit was in operation. As a safety feature to prevent automatic restart, turn the temperature dial to OFF and wait two minutes. Then, turn the temperature dial to SMOKE or your desired temperature. If the error code persists, contact Customer Service.

Why does my Pit Boss PB820FB show a temperature when it is off?
    • A
      Aaron GonzalezSep 16, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill displays an unexpected temperature when OFF, it is likely due to the grill being exposed to high ambient temperatures and direct sunlight. This will not harm the grill. The internal temperature of the grill barrel has reached or exceeded 54°C / 130°F. To resolve this, move the grill into a shaded area and prop the lid open to reduce the internal temperature.

What does the "ErH" error message mean on my Pit Boss PB820FB and how to fix it?
    • J
      Jacob BushSep 8, 2025
The "ErH" error message on your Pit Boss grill indicates that the grill has overheated, possibly due to a grease fire or excess fuel. To resolve this, turn the temperature dial to OFF and allow the grill to cool. Remove the pellets and confirm the correct positioning of all component parts after maintenance. To clear the error, turn the temperature dial to OFF, open the lid, wait 3 to 4 minutes, then select your desired temperature.

Why is the temperature flashing on the LCD screen of my Pit Boss PB820FB?
    • R
      richardsonjessicaSep 9, 2025
A flashing temperature on the LCD screen of your Pit Boss grill indicates that the grill temperature is below 65°C / 150°F. This suggests a risk that the fire could go out. Check the hopper for enough fuel and any feed system obstructions. Also, inspect the grill temperature probe for dirt, the burn pot for ash build-up, and ensure the fan is working with unblocked air intake. Finally, check the auger motor for proper operation and any tube blockages.

Why Pit Boss Grill produces excess smoke?
    • D
      Diane HannaSep 2, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill is producing excessive or discolored smoke, check and clean the interior grilling area to remove excess grease build-up. Ensure you clear the hopper and burn pot of any moist pellets, replacing them with fresh, dry pellets. Also, check the burn pot for any fuel build-up. It is a good practice to clean and do a controlled burn off of the hidden excess grease after each large cooking of tasty greasy foods.

Why Pit Boss PB820FB Grill will not start?
    • M
      maryallenSep 1, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill won't start, verify it's plugged in and the electrical outlet has power. Check and reset the Ground Fault Interrupter if needed. If the igniter isn't working, inspect the 5 amp fuse on the back of the control and replace it if necessary. Ensure the Temperature Dial is in the OFF position, then turn it to SMOKE to see if the LCD screen lights up. If these steps don't work, inspect the igniter and auger feed, and check the control board wires and connections. If problems persist, contact Customer Service for replacement parts.
