Why won't my Pit Boss PB440FB1 achieve or maintain a stable temperature?
    • D
      Dawn GrossJul 28, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill won't achieve or maintain a stable temperature, check the burn pot for ash build-up or obstructions. Ensure the fan is working properly and the air intake is not blocked. Also, confirm the auger motor is operating correctly and there is no blockage in the auger tube. Verify that the fuel level is sufficient and the wood pellets are of good quality. Check the grill probe. Once all steps have been done, start the grill, set temperature to SMOKE and wait for 10 minutes. Check that the flame produced is bright and vibrant.

What to do if the fire in the Pit Boss PB440FB1 burn pot will not light?
    • K
      kwilliamsAug 1, 2025
If the fire in the burn pot of your Pit Boss Grill will not light, it may be due to the auger not being primed. Follow the hopper priming procedure. Another cause may be that the auger motor is jammed. Remove cooking components, turn the temperature control dial to smoke, and inspect the auger feed system to confirm pellets are dropping into the burn pot. Inspect the igniter and confirm it's working by feeling for heat above the burn pot and that it's protruding approximately 13mm / 0.5 inches into the burn pot.

Also, clear the burn pot of any moist wood pellets and ensure the fan is working properly with unobstructed air intake.

If the control board on your Pit Boss Grill has no power lights, first, make sure the unit is plugged into a working power source and reset the breaker. Check that the GFCI is a minimum 10 Amp service. Also, ensure all wire connections are firmly connected and dry. If the temperature control dial is off, press the power button and turn the temperature control dial to a temperature setting. If the fuse is blown, it needs to be manually replaced. Why is the temperature flashing on my Pit Boss PB440FB1 Grill LCD screen?
    • S
      shannonchandlerAug 18, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill temperature is flashing on the LCD screen, this indicates the grill temperature is below 65°C /150°F, suggesting the fire could go out. Check the hopper for sufficient fuel or any obstruction in the feed system. Remove pellets and follow care and maintenance instructions. Inspect the grill probe and clean it if dirty. Also, check the burn pot for ash build-up or obstructions and ensure the fan is working properly with no blockage of air intake. Finally, confirm the auger motor is rotating and there's no blockage in the auger tube.
