How to fix a Pit Boss Grill if the fire pot will not light?
    • W
      Whitney HuntAug 25, 2025
If the fire pot of your Pit Boss Grill will not light, it could be due to several reasons. First, if the auger is not primed, follow the Hopper Priming Procedure. If the auger motor is jammed, remove cooking components, turn the Temperature Control Dial to SMOKE, and inspect the auger feed system. Visually confirm that the auger is dropping pellets into the fire pot. Also, inspect the igniter to confirm it is working, by placing your hand above the fire pot and feeling for heat and visually confirm that the igniter is protruding approximately 13mm / 0.5 inches in the fire pot.

What does Err error code with AUGER icon blinking mean on Pit Boss Smokers?
    • J
      James CombsSep 18, 2025
If your Pit Boss smoker displays an Err error code with the AUGER icon blinking, it indicates that the auger is not primed or the auger motor is jammed. Prime the auger before the first use or after completely emptying the hopper, allowing pellets to fill the feed system. If not primed, the igniter will time out. Follow the Hopper Priming Procedure. If the auger motor is jammed, remove the ash clean-out tray, turn the unit on, and inspect the auger feed system. If it's not operating properly, contact Customer Care for assistance or a replacement part.

    • J
      Julia PetersSep 8, 2025
The noP error code on your Pit Boss Grill indicates a problem with the meat probe. First, disconnect the meat probe from the connection port on the Control Board and reconnect it, ensuring it's firmly attached and checking for any damage to the adapter end. Also, inspect the meat probe wires for any signs of damage. If the problem persists, contact Customer Service for a replacement part.

What do flashing dots on the LCD screen of my Pit Boss PRO mean?
    • F
      Frank BryanSep 13, 2025
If you see flashing dots on the LCD screen of your Pit Boss Grill, this indicates the unit has power and is in Start-Up mode with the igniter on. This is normal and not an error. The igniter will turn off after five minutes, and the grill will begin to adjust to the desired temperature once the flashing dots disappear.

How to fix Pit Boss PRO not maintaining temperature?
    • M
Mrs. Amanda Gomez PhDSep 5, 2025
If your Pit Boss Grill isn't reaching or maintaining a stable temperature, start by checking the fire pot for ash build-up or obstructions and ensure sufficient airflow. Make sure the fan is working properly and the air intake is not blocked. Also, inspect the auger motor to confirm operation and ensure there's no blockage in the auger tube. Next, verify that the fuel level in the hopper is sufficient and that the wood pellets are of good quality and not too long, which could cause an obstruction in the feed system. Finally, check the status of the grill probe; a dirty or damaged probe can affect temperature readings.

How to stop flare-ups on my Pit Boss Grill?
    • A
      Allison SimpsonSep 23, 2025
Frequent flare-ups in your Pit Boss Grill can often be attributed to the cooking temperature being too high, especially when cooking greasy foods. Try cooking at a lower temperature, ideally below 176°C / 350°F. Another cause could be grease build-up on the cooking components. Follow the care and maintenance instructions to clean them thoroughly.

Why won't my Pit Boss Smokers achieve or maintain stable temperature?
    • S
      Susan SanchezNov 26, 2025
If your Pit Boss Smokers won't achieve or maintain a stable temperature, several factors could be responsible. You may have insufficient air flow through the burn pot due to ash build-up or obstructions, so check the burn pot and clean as needed. Ensure the fan is working properly and the air intake isn't blocked. You might also lack sufficient or have poor quality fuel, or there could be an obstruction in the feed system. Check the hopper fuel level and replenish if low, and remove any poor quality pellets. The grill probe might be dirty, so check the status of the grill probe. Weather or exterior temperature can also affect temperature, so use an insulated blanket in cold conditions or keep the unit in a shaded area in hot conditions. After checking all of the above steps, start the gril...

Why is my Pit Boss Smokers showing Igniter Error Screen?
    • J
      Julia NelsonAug 27, 2025
If your Pit Boss Smoker displays an Igniter Error Screen, it could mean the igniter isn't working properly or making a connection. Remove cooking components from the main barrel, turn the unit on, and inspect the igniter. Visually confirm it's working by placing your hand above the burn grate and feeling for heat, and ensure it's flush with the burn pot, open to light the pellets. If it's not operating properly or the igniter failure, contact Customer Care for assistance or a replacement part.
