1.1 Introduction
The AK500 System, consisting of the AK525/AK512 CCU's and the
AK525/AK512 CRU's, enables the point-to-point transport of Ethernet Service
over bonded copper pairs. It bonds together 2 to 8 copper pairs creating a
symmetric or asymmetric high-bandwidth link capable of delivering up to 100
Mbps out to 12 Kft/3.7 Km or 45 Mbps out to 17 Kft/5.2 Km, making it the ideal
solution for Carrier Ethernet service delivery and backhaul applications. The
AK500 is also environmentally hardened and can be configured for either line or
local power.
Each of the units are 1RU high. They contain Aktino's signature Aktino Flex
functionally, which makes the industry's only asymmetric bandwidth feature
possible. Asymmetric bandwidth is enabled via a software command and allows
service providers to dictate how much bandwidth is allocated to downstream vs.
upstream traffic.
