About the G1002-C / G1002-C+
Introduction
The G1002-C and G1002-C+ G.hn to Ethernet Bridge complete the G.hn link
(coax) with the G.hn Access Multiplexer (GAM) and convert the G.hn interface to
a standard Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45) interface. They are designed for indoor
installation, usually inside the subscriber premises and connect to a Residential
Gateway (RG) or comparable devices.
While each of these devices perform a similar function, here is a summary of the
unique features of each model:
• G1002-C: this coaxial G.hn Endpoint is locally powered and offers two (2)
Gigabit Ethernet ports (RJ-45). The 1
st
Ethernet Port can be configured as
a VLAN Trunk port when there is a need to support a large number of
VLANs. The 2
nd
Ethernet Port can be configured as a VLAN Access port
when there is a need to support no more than twelve (12) VLANs.
• G1002-C+: this coaxial G.hn Endpoint is locally powered and offers two (2)
Gigabit Ethernet ports (RJ-45). The 1
st
Ethernet Port can be used to power
another device over Ethernet, it can operate in POE mode (15.4W as per
IEEE 802.3af) or in POE+ mode (30W as per IEEE 802.3at). This first port
can be configured as a VLAN Trunk port when there is a need to support a
large number of VLANs. The 2
nd
Ethernet Port does not support
POE/POE+, it can be configured as a VLAN Access port when there is a
need to support no more than twelve (12) VLANs.
About G.hn
The ITU-T G.9960 G.hn Wave-2 standard leverages the existing telephone wiring
(UTP, CAT-3 or CAT-5/5e) or RG-6/RG-59 coax cabling to deliver a Gigabit
Internet service to each subscriber without the cost, complexity and delays
associated with in-building fiber installation. G.hn is an Access technology for
Operators looking to simplify their access network and backend infrastructure with
