  Air may re-enter the bag after vacuum sealing for a couple of reasons. The seal might have a fold or wrinkle, allowing air to seep in. If this occurs, try cutting off the sealed end, flattening the bag, and resealing it. If the issue persists, try using a new bag. Alternatively, if the bag contains vegetables, they might release gas, causing the bag to inflate.

Ensure enough space between the items and the bag's end. * The bag material may have pinholes or punctures. Discard the bag and create a new one.

  If the unit appears to be vacuuming the bag, but it doesn't seal and the bag refills with air when you press STOP, you may have pressed the VAC accessory button inside the unit instead of the VAC-SEAL button on the lid. The VAC accessory button is specifically for zipper bags with ports, vacuum seal storage containers, and bottle stoppers. Always use the VAC-SEAL button on the lid for custom or precut bags.

  If you're having trouble making a bag with your Presto vacuum sealer, consider the following: * Ensure the vacuum sealer is fully closed. Press down firmly on the front corners of the lid until you hear both sides click. * Make sure the entire open end of the bag material overlaps the brown sealing strip. Reposition if necessary. * If you tried sealing the end before cutting it from the roll, the seal may be faulty. Cut off the bad seal, then cut the bag material from the roll and roll the extra back into the storage bay before sealing the end again.

  If you cannot get a vacuum when using the vacuum tube with reusable zipper bags, check the following: * Ensure the vacuum tube is securely attached to the port inside the unit and that the port adapter and vacuum adapter are securely attached to the tube. * Be sure the zipper is fully closed by pressing it firmly from one end of the bag to the other. * Make sure there aren’t any items directly under the bag port when filling the bag. * Ensure you are placing the vacuum adapter over the correct side of the bag, with the white plastic port facing up. * Adjust the position of the vacuum adapter, centering it on the port until suction occurs.

  The food may be wet, preventing the bag from sealing; follow the tips for sealing moist foods. The bag end may be wet or have particles; clean and dry it thoroughly, or use a new bag. The sealed end may have a fold or defect; cut it off, flatten the bag, and reseal it. A sharp object may have punctured the bag; wrap it and reseal it in a new bag. The sealing strip or gaskets may be dirty or damaged; clean them and replace the lower gasket if needed. Also, the drip tray may contain liquid that prevents sealing; empty, clean, and dry it.

  Make sure that you insert the open end of the bag in the vacuum cavity. Also, ensure that the vacuum sealer is completely closed. Detach the vacuum tube from the port on the back of the unit, if attached. Ensure you have a good bottom seal by resealing it. Avoid overfilling the bag, and discard and remake the bag if the material has pinholes or punctures.
