Do you have a question about the Primary Mover Prime Force PF310 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is an operator's manual and installation instructions for Primary Mover hydraulic dump bed systems, specifically for models PF310, PF416, PF516, PF520, PF616-6, PF621-6, PF625, PF630, and a trailer jack with hoist. The manual provides comprehensive information regarding the installation, operation, maintenance, and safety precautions associated with these hydraulic systems.

Function Description

The Primary Mover hydraulic dump bed systems are designed to facilitate the lifting and lowering of dump beds on trailers, as well as the operation of hydraulic trailer jacks. These systems utilize a hydraulic power unit (HPU) to generate the necessary force for these operations. The hoist models are intended for various trailer body lengths and capacities, allowing for efficient material dumping. The trailer jack with hoist provides hydraulic assistance for raising and lowering the trailer, enhancing ease of use and safety during hitching and unhitching.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual details several important technical specifications for the hydraulic systems:

  • Maximum Working Pressure: 3200 PSI for the hydraulic system.
  • Hydraulic Port Type: #6 JIC.
  • Maximum Hydraulic Flow Rate: 2 GPM for both single and dual-acting HPU connections.
  • Maximum Pressure for "Raising" Portion of Cycle: 3200 PSI (Port A).
  • Maximum Pressure for "Lowering" Portion of Cycle: 1500 PSI (Port B) for dual-acting systems.
  • Hydraulic Oil: To qualify for extended warranty, hydraulic oil must be purchased from Primary Mover.
  • Hose Installation: For single-acting circuits, a hydraulic hose must be installed on both sides of the cylinder to qualify for extended warranty.
  • Safety Arm: Designed to support the weight of an unloaded body only. The manual includes a table for "Maximum Unloaded Tilt Body Weight in Pounds Using One Safety Arm," which varies based on the distance between the rear hinge and the safety arm (in inches) and the trailer tilt body length (in feet). For example, for a 50-inch distance and an 8-foot body length, the maximum weight is 3854 lbs; for a 230-inch distance and a 20-foot body length, it's 7092 lbs.
  • Hoist Mounting Dimensions: Specific "A" and "B" dimensions are provided for each hoist model (PF310, PF416, PF516, PF520, PF616, PF621, PF625, PF630) to ensure proper installation relative to the nearest frame member with the tilt frame down. For instance, PF310 has an "A" dimension of 5.5 inches, while PF630 has an "A" dimension of 8.00 inches and a "B" dimension of 13.00 inches.
  • Hoist Dimensions and Capacity (Tons): Detailed diagrams and tables are provided for each hoist model (PF310, PF416, PF516, PF520, PF616-6, PF621-6, PF625, PF630). These tables outline the hoist capacity in tons based on "A" (Body in Feet), "B" (Overhang in Inches), and "Dump Angle (Degrees)" (45° or 50°).
    • PF310: Max capacity ranges from 2.5 to 5.5 tons depending on body length, overhang, and dump angle. For example, a 10-foot body with 12-inch overhang at 45° dump angle has a capacity of 2.8 tons, while an 8-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 5.5 tons.
    • PF416: Max capacity ranges from 5.6 to 12.4 tons. For example, a 10-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 12.4 tons.
    • PF516: Max capacity ranges from 5.8 to 12.9 tons. For example, a 10-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 12.9 tons.
    • PF520: Max capacity ranges from 6.7 to 12.9 tons. For example, a 12-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 12.9 tons.
    • PF616-6: Max capacity ranges from 8.1 to 15.7 tons. For example, a 12-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 15.7 tons.
    • PF621-6: Max capacity ranges from 8.3 to 13.9 tons. For example, a 16-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 13.9 tons.
    • PF625: Max capacity ranges from 7.9 to 13.2 tons. For example, a 16-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 13.2 tons.
    • PF630: Max capacity ranges from 8.9 to 15.4 tons. For example, an 18-foot body with 24-inch overhang at 45° has a capacity of 15.4 tons.
  • Capacity Conditions: Capacities are based on: 1) Water level non-diminishing load, 2) Vertical height between rear hinge pivot and floor no less than 3 inches, and 3) Hydraulic relief pressure set at 3,200 psi.
  • Hoist Location on Trailer: Specific "M" dimensions (body length) and "Dimension A" (hoist model specific) are provided for proper placement. For example, PF310 has a Dimension A of 27", while PF630 has a Dimension A of 60". The maximum distance from the center line of the lower hoist pivot is 26.5" for smaller models and 28.0" for larger models.

Usage Features

  • Installation: The manual provides detailed instructions for installing the hoist kit, including the hydraulic power unit, hinges, safety arm, and hydraulic connections. It emphasizes reading the entire manual before installation.
  • Safety Arm Use: A clear, step-by-step procedure for using the safety arm is provided: raise the body, shut off hydraulic power, rotate the safety arm to vertical, push it into the support bracket, and slowly lower the hoist until the cup contacts the arm.
  • Hydraulic Connections: Instructions are given for both single-acting and dual-acting HPU connections, including the installation of a vented plug (for single-acting) and a Bridon load control valve. Dual-acting systems require specific hose assemblies for "Body Up" and "Body Down" functions.
  • Trailer Jack Installation: Instructions for single and dual hydraulic trailer weld-on jack installations are included, emphasizing continuous welding on both sides of the jack and positioning hydraulic ports for easy hose routing. An 8" maximum height is specified for the jack installation.
  • Battery Hookup: A typical battery hookup diagram is provided, with a strong recommendation to keep the trailer battery charged using Pulse-tech products from Primary Mover.

Maintenance Features

  • Grease Points: The manual identifies grease fitting locations on the hoist and hinge and specifies lubrication with EP3 grease every 6 months.
  • Equipment Repair: Users are advised to always have faulty equipment repaired before continuing use and to consult the trailer manufacturer if required.
  • Warranty: Primary Mover offers a standard 36-month warranty against defects in design, material, and workmanship. Warranty extensions are available for 4, 5, or 6 years if specific conditions are met, such as purchasing hydraulic oil from Primary Mover and installing hydraulic hoses on both sides of the cylinder for single-acting circuits. These extensions are tied to the purchase of battery maximizer kits (e.g., 20 amp road charger, 8 or 18 amp battery charger, and SolarPulse panels of varying wattages).
  • Warranty Exclusions: The warranty does not cover loss/theft, user abuse/neglect, improper installation/maintenance/storage/modification, normal wear and tear parts, paint/finishes performed by others, unauthorized modifications, or loss due to natural disaster/acts of God. Any unauthorized modifications void the warranty.
  • Pre-Operation Checks: Before operation, users should ensure that all hydraulic components are compatible with Primary Mover products and that pressure and flow rates do not exceed recommended limits. Pressure adjustments should only be made by trained and qualified technicians.
