7.4 Bow Towing Eye (Optional)
The boat may be equipped with a Bow Tow-
ing Eye. Use of this option will require the
use of a Pennant that is attached to the Tow-
ing eye with a clevis secured with a bolt and
nut. Attached to the Pennant will be a Haw-
ser of the correct length to match sea condi-
tions and towing speed. The Hawser is
attached to a Bridle that is attached to the
towing boat. This gear should be designed
and assembled by a professional who spe-
cializes in marine towing systems.
It is the captain's responsibility to properly
specify , install and maintain the towing gear
to prevent injury to the towing boat's occu-
pants or damage to the towed boat, other
boats.
! WARNING
Towing or being under tow is a haz-
ardous operation that places high
stress on the boats' hardware and tow
lines. Never stand directly in line of
the tow line. Failure of any of these
parts can casue serious injury or dam-
age.
